A simple life 2...

Already?

The couple woke up in the same position they fell asleep in to the sound of jays alarm ringing. Both of them got up and Ivy went to the bathroom first, she hopped in the shower and then jay went in after her. Jay got out just in time to tell her not to change into her uniform, "hey Ivy? Have you gotten changed yet?" He shouted from the bathroom. She curiously answered, "no not yet why?". He reappeared in the bedroom again with a towel wrapped around his waist, "put some plain work clothes on, and wear your boots..." he said leaving it at that. She turned to look at him while holding the towel up by her hands over her chest, "okay..." she said really confused. Jay turned to look at her too and he smiled, "just do it" he said with a smirk while getting changed.

She done as he suggested and put on some clothes that were comfy yet suitable to work in.

"You're kinda scaring me..." Ivy said while walking over to jay as he put his boots on. He laughed and smiled, "it's nothing bad don't worry". She narrowed her eyes at him playfully before he pulled her into a kiss, "what was that for?" She smiled as he pulled away. "Existing" he said while staring at her in awe. She paused for a moment before kissing him back, he smiled down to her and asked the same thing, "what was that for?" He said while smirking. "Nothing in particular, just felt like it" she winked back. He laughed and they left his apartment with their badges and guns hand in hand.

The drive to the district was mainly silent since Jay wouldn't tell her why she was in plain work clothes as she was only a patrol officer who would always wear uniform. When they got to the district trudy noticed her out of uniform, "where's your gear?" Trudy said in confusion. Ivy shrugged her shoulders and look at jay for an answer, "she's coming upstairs for briefing this morning, voights orders" jay said before dismissing them both.

Ivy looked weary since she had only ever been upstairs under sad circumstances, "chin up" jay said before they made it into the bull pen. She smiled and made herself known, her smile lit up the room. "Jay, Ivy? What're you doing up here?" Hailey said in confusion but she was also happy to see her. "I have no idea, jay?" She said while looking at her boyfriend. Before jay could answer Voight appeared and waved her into his office along with jay. The whole unit looked at each other suspiciously and watched the couple stride into their bosses office.

             "Hey sarge? What's going on?" Ivy enquired fairly worried.  Hank looked at jay and laughed, "sit" he said while motioning for her to take a seat.  She nodded and sat down on the chair opposite him, she looked at him curiously and Hank just laughed.  "There's a spot open in my unit and after what I saw the other day at the scene.  I want you to take it" Hank said hopefully.  "Yes" she said back immediately, jay looked at sarge with wide eyes, she realised how desperate she sounded, "I mean yes I'll happily take it" she repeated herself sounding a bit more happy.  Jay smiled wearily since he was still worried about her safety but Hank nodded and grinned widely, "great, you start today" he said while grabbing a file.  Jay looked at Ivy in shock, "wait today? Already?" Jay said while raising his eyebrows. 

             Hank smiled at them both, "yeah we need her, you good with that?" Hank said while looking at jay then Ivy.  Ivy nodded with a definite yes but jay nodded in slight concern.  As the three got up they made their way out to the bull pen, "this is detective kate, you've all met her. She's joining the unit" Hank said while pushing Ivy out in front of him.  The unit smiled and welcomed her with open arms, it was unusual for a rookie cop to be promoted so early on in their career but Ivy had something special and the team couldn't wait to find out what that special something was.

            Ivy smiled and embraced the warm welcome, she scanned the room and realised that all the detectives were partnered up and there was no one spare, "one question though sarge...who's my partner?" She said while confused.  The team all looked around at each other as they wanted to know the answer too, Hank smiled and pointed to the stairs.  "I am" an older mans voice shouted from the top of the stairs.  Everyone looked over and the whole unit jumped up, even jay had walked away from Ivy and Voight to go and greet him, "Ivy this is Antonio, he'll be your partner" hank said while guiding her over to him.  The new partners smiled at each other and gave each other a welcoming hug, "I didn't know you were coming back?" Jay said in a happy tone.

Antonio laughed, "no neither did I till yesterday. Well here I am..." he said with a smile. Antonio looked at Ivy and smiled, he went to the locker room and the boys followed him while the girls stayed with Ivy. "You're gonna be a perfect match, plus we could use another female presence. The guys drive us crazy, especially Jay..." Hailey said while setting up Ivys desk for her. She laughed understanding exactly what she meant, "yeah he's a big kid" Ivy joked along with them. The girls were socialising until Hank shouted for Ivy, "hey Ivy, over here a sec" he said while holding a small file in his hands. She made his way over to him, "hey sarge, what can I do for you?" She said already wanting to help. He smiled and handed her the file, "trudys gonna need these signed by the end of the day, you'll need a CI too. I'm sure jay will help you look for one" he said before leaving to go back into his office.

Ivy turned and nodded, she smiled and walked passed the female detectives who were on their phones and quietly walked to the locker room, she paused before entering as she heard the boys laughing. Hearing them happy made her smile, she slowly crept around the corner and peeped her head around the door, Kevin noticed her first and waved. "What up" he said with his hood accent. She waved back and the rest of them turned to look at her too, "I can come back if I'm interrupting something..." she smiled as they looked at her in silence. Jay smiled widely at her and walked over to her, "no it's fine, we weren't busy" he said while joining her outside. She smiled at him in awe before explaining, "Hank said you could help me find a CI? I can look myself if it's gonna take up your time..." she said feeling like she was depriving him of his bro time.

He laughed and grabbed the file from her hand, "no no, I'd love to. Besides, I'll get to make sure you get the right guy on your side" he said while grabbing her hand and walking out into the bullpen again. The girls noticed the couple and smiled at them as they walked over to the break room, "I got a guy in mind, you mind if i..." he said while pointing to the file. "Fire away" she said while sliding the file to him. He smiled and flicked through her options, he found the guy he was looking for and turned the piece of paper around to show her. "This guys got people who know people. You'll be lucky if you get him" he suggested him to her. She smiled and read his description, "sure, I'll fill out my forms then go give them to trudy" she smiled back. Jay kissed her on the cheek and left her to work in peace, she liked his company but he laughed at every little thing so she wouldn't get it done if he was there.
