The morning seemed uneasy, for Ivy anyways. She rolled out of bed with a slight frown, "everything okay?" Jay said noticing the bitter mood. She stared at him confused, "does something seem off to you?" She said with furrowed brows. Jay looked around and paused for a second, "no...why?" He said while staring at Ivy who was stood in the door way.
She thought for a second while trying to figure out what was wrong, the only problem was she didn't even know herself. "I don't know, something just don't feel right...I'm sure it's nothing" she shrugged her shoulders and went to brush her teeth. Jay shook it off and so did she, she must've just been paranoid. When they arrived to work it was somewhat quiet, apart from Adam and Kim sorting out their relationship.
Hank strolled out into the bullpen in a hurry, "we got a hit, come on" he said to the unit. They all got up apart from Ivy, she swivelled in her chair and threw her head back in boredom, jay and Hank looked back at her and laughed before vanishing down the stairs.
Trudy had noticed Ivy wasn't with the team as they left so she buzzed herself up to go and see where she was. When she made it to the top of the stairs she saw Ivy throwing paper aeroplanes down the aisle, "why aren't you chasing down the hit?" She said while laughing at the big kid from the other end of the room. Ivy jumped at the company and laughed, "I'm benched from field work until they have yates in lock up" she answered with a playful eye roll. Trudy laughed and smiled, "jay?" She said already half suspecting the answer. "Yeah" Ivy laughed back but smiled at the thought of him, the pair talked for a while until an officer shouted for Trudy from the bottom of the stairs. "I gotta go, you keep playing with your paper aeroplanes of whatever" trudy joked as she left.
Ivy kept herself amused by doing paper work, she even done some of the teams paper work which they would be thankful for. The pile of paper work the team had to get through had tripled in size since yates came into their care, she had managed to half the size of it and cut down work time for everyone. The team had been gone for about 4 hours, Ivy didn't worry because they were on a stakeout and that could take all day. It got till around 6:30 pm when her phone pinged, she grabbed it and went to answer the message but she paused before sending a reply.
Jay: "hey, can you get a cab home? This is taking longer than expected..."
Ivy: "yeah sure, everything okay?"
Jay: "yeah everything's fine, I'll see you at home"
She was suspicious, jay always called her babe or said 'I love you' at the end of his texts but these messages didn't. She decided to check up on the teams whereabouts so she pinged jays phone, funnily enough they were still on the stakeout. Whenever jay or any of the team were working they never used their phones unless it was an emergency, and this wasn't really an emergency so she immediately knew something was up.She put her phone down and ran downstairs curiously, "hey sarge, has Voight mentioned anything yet? You know, about the hit?" She said to trudy who was stood behind her desk. Trudy looked up from her paper work to see an impatient Ivy stood in front of her, "no why? I'm pretty sure they're still working on it..." she said matching her eagerness. Ivy scrunched up her face, "oh nothing serious, jays text seems weird that's all. I'm sure it's nothing. I'll go back upstairs..." she said still curious. Trudy nodded suspiciously but let the young detective go back up to her paper work thinking nothing of it, she shook it off and got on with whatever desk Sergeants do.
Jay and hailey had spent the full day on top of a building, freezing their socks off, just to find out the hit was a scam and it was set up by yates to distract them again. "Son of a bitch" hank mumbled to himself as the unit gathered around again. "Alright head back to to district" hank sighed clearly annoyed. The partners nodded and headed back to their cars, when jay was buckled up in the passenger seat, since hailey was driving, he pulled out his phone to let Ivy know what had gone on. As he opened up her message he froze, "woah woah woah..." jay said confused. Hailey kept her eyes on the road but questioned him in concern, "what's up?" She said confused. He read the texts over and over before answering, "someone's tapped my phone, sent Ivy a message posing as me telling her to get a cab home..." he explained.
Hailey looked concerned, "what'd she reply back with?" She enquired while hoping Ivy ignored it. Jay read the message again, "yeah sure, everything okay?" He informed his partner. Hailey nodded, "so she knows somethings up" she confirmed. Jay nodded and keyed his radio to tell the unit what was going on, "Sarge we gotta get back now, she might've done what they message told her..." he said while panicking slightly. There was a static buzz over the radio before hank replied, "sirens on guys" he said which immediately let them know this was urgent.
They cut out all traffic and arrived back to the district faster than usual, jay hopped out swiftly and ran into the reception, "sarge, when did Ivy leave?" Jay asked trudy while scanning the area. Trudy looked at him in confusion, "she didn't..." she answered back with a screwed up face. Jay turned around with a confused face to stare at the unit, hank smirked a little and they all ran upstairs with jay leading the way. "Ivy?!" Jay shouted into the bullpen sounding confused. Ivy was crouched down on the floor behind her desk sorting out files so she stood up quickly and looked at jay concerned, "yeah...?" she replied back while wondering why he was so flustered. "You didn't get a cab home?" He said confused while walking over to her. She furrowed her brows and looked at him with a confused smile, "no, you didn't send the texts did you?" She questioned herself and jay.
Jay looked at her like she had 6 heads, "no, no I didn't. Wait how'd you know it wasn't me?" He said while shaking his head in disbelief. She smiled at him and laughed, "using your phone while at work? I don't think so. I pinged your phone and it said you were still at the location so I asked trudy if she'd heard anything at all. She said that you guys were still working on it so I ignored the text and came back upstairs..." she explained to the unit who were also waiting for her answer. Hank laughed and walked into his office, she was smart. "Besides you didn't call me babe or tell me you love me, so unlike you" she added while walking back over to her desk. Hailey laughed and sat down on her spinny chair, the rest of the unit smiled and went back to their own desks. "Observant and beautiful. What more you hiding?" He whispered to her before leaving to get on with his own work. She smiled and walked into the break room to refill her coffee mug.
Adam went to sit down but he noticed that half of the paper work from the huge pile they had been growing was missing, "uhhhhh guys, where's the paper work gone?" He said to the team in the bullpen but made sure Ivy could also hear. The unit turned to look at the mini pile and were all taken aback by its decreased size, hank had even heard the confusion and made his way out to stand in his office door way with his arms crossed. The team all turned to look at Ivy for answers since she was the one who had been cooped up in the room all day, she laughed and walked over to her desk.
She bent down to pick up a heavy stack of files and slammed it onto her desk not meaning for it to make such a loud bang, "it's here..." she said while taking a deep breath since the files were heavy. The unit looked at her with huge respect, "you did it?" Hank said with a slight smirk. Ivy nodded thinking nothing of it, after all it was her job and it wasn't like she had anything better to do all day. "She's my new favourite" Kevin said while stuffing some sweets into his face. Ivy laughed and looked at the rest of them before turning her attention to jay. They all stood smiling in appreciation, "you kinda just fixed our sleeping patterns" Kim said with a sigh of relief. Paper work was the worst part of the job so she looked at Kim and laughed. "Meh, it's the least I could do" she said before taking a sip of coffee.
Hank stood smiling proudly at her and nodded his head in approval before speaking, "well in that case you can all go then" he said as he turned and closed his office door. Everyone threw their heads back and sighed, "life saver" hailey said as she passed Ivy to leave and go home.
Jay hadn't stopped staring at her, "what?" She said while walking over to him and hugging him around his waist. He looked into her eyes with warmth and care, "I fucking love you" he said seriously before holding the side of her face. She smiled and held his hand that was holding her face, she grabbed his other hand and grabbed his jacket for him. "Let's get outta here" she said as the couple ran down the stairs and into his car to go home.
