A simple life 2...

Now or never

                  "Are you okay? Is it just your arm?" Jay said protectively while checking over her body.  She looked so shaken up, it wasn't like before when she was scared for her life, this time she was scared of losing jay.  "Uh, yeah I think" she said while shaking her head in confusion.  She turned to look at yates who was laying down dead on the floor, "come on let's get you checked out" jay said while leading her away from the scene.  She walked passed the unit who looked at her with a sad smile, jay had his arm wrapped around her and his spare hand pressed up against the wound to stop any bleeding. 

              "Hey Ivy, we really need to stop meeting like this" Brett joked as jay sat her down on the step of the ambo.  Ivy laughed and looked at her, "what can I say? I attract trouble" she said with a smile.  Jay laughed but looked at her in worry.  "Okay, looks like you're gonna need stitches but I'll patch it up until you can get to med" Brett said while wrapping a bandage around the 3 inch long wound.  Ivy smiled, "thanks sylvie, it's about time I bough you a beer or something" Ivy joked while standing up next to jay.  Brett laughed and closed the ambo door, "is the kid okay?" She said before hopping in the front to drive back to the fire house.  "Yeah he's doing okay" jay said while nodded at her.  She nodded and waved before Mackey drove off.

               "I though I was gonna lose you, he was gonna do it..." Ivy said while hugging jay but being careful of her arm.  Jay smiled back and pulled her in tighter, "I wouldn't let that happen" jay said while cupping her cheek. She looked up at him gratefully and smiled, "let's hurry up and sort this out so I can get you to med" jay said while guiding her over to the district again.  Hank noticed the pair joining them, "are you okay?" Hank said with a half worried half calm look.  She smiled weakly but nodded, "CID want a full report from you, they're over there waiting" he said while dismissing her.  She smiled at jay before walking over to the men and telling them exactly what happened.

About 15 minutes later they let her go so she walked back over to jay, "you all sorted?" He said with a smile. She nodded weakly and followed him to his car, they hopped in and set of driving to med. "I love you" he said randomly while placing his hand on her leg. She looked at him and smiled, "I love you too" she replied back to his random comment. 10 minutes flew by and they arrived at med, jay had already told Will what had happened so Will was waiting in a treatment room ready to help. "Ivy! You really love this place don't you?" He joked at her frequent visits. She laughed and sat down with jay stood by the door, "of course" she replied sarcastically. "You've hit a new record, 12 stitches" will congratulated her and laughed. "Such an honour" she said back with a sarcastic smile. Jay was staring at her in admiration the whole time, she got on with his family so well even though he only had Will.

            "Alright you're done" Will said as he wiped the cut with an antiseptic wipe.  "Thanks Will" she said as she jumped off the bed.  "I'm gonna go see Nat, see you in a few mins" she said before leaving to go chat about the baby.  Nat was in view so Ivy walked over to her, Will and jay stayed in the room but they could still see their girls.  "Hey, I was wondering if you still had moms wedding ring..." jay blurted out.  Will looked at him in shock, "you're gonna..." he started but was cut of by jay, "propose, yeah yeah" jay finished his sentence.  Will looked at his younger brother in shock, "yeah I still have it, you really love her huh?" Will said with a smile as he looked out to Nat and Ivy.  Jay smiled back, "yeah I do, Yates nearly took her life today so it's now or never..." jay said remembering the fear that struck him after the FaceTime call ended earlier that day.

            Will patted his brothers shoulder, "when do you want it?" He said with a smile.  Jay looked at him, "tomorrow?" He asked with hope.  Will laughed and nodded, "mollys?" He asked already knowing the answer.  Jay smiled, "yeah, I'll try get everyone there but I'm not sure if I'd be able to..." he said with a frown.  Will looked at jay with a definite nod, "oh everyone from the ER Will be there" he said in approval.  Jay laughed, "thanks man, I appreciate it" he said before sliding open the door to go get Ivy and drive home.  Will followed his brother out and walked over to the desk and joined his wife on the other side, "you ready to go?" Jay said while putting his hand around Ivys waist, she smiled at him.  "Yeah come on then, see you later nat. Thanks Will" she said as the couple walked out of the ER.

             They hopped into the car and Ivy rolled down her sleeve, "what do you think about going to mollys tomorrow night after shift?" Jay said hoping she would agree.   Ivy smiled and nodded, "I'd love to, we haven't seen the firehouse folks in ages" she said with a smile as she kissed him on the lips.  He kissed her back before turning to focus on the road and drive home.  When they got home they sat down on the couch and watched a film, Ivys arm was aching like mad and she was in quite a bit of pain.  She moved to grab her glass of water and as she grabbed the glass a painful shooting sensation shot up her arm, "ahhh!" She clutched her arm and put the glass back down. Jay sat up quickly, "what's wrong?" he said in concern while grabbing her and holding her close. She released the breath she didn't even know she was holding, "this stupid arm, it hurts like a bitch" she said while pushing jay back down so she could rest on his chest. Jay smiled, he loved it when she was pissed off. There was a feisty side to her that she rarely expressed but when she did he loved it. "You'll be better in no time" he said while stroking her hair as they snuggled up to each other. He held her like there was no tomorrow, little did she know what he had planned.
