A simple life 2...

Say goodbye

              The unit had responded to the call, only to find out the woman was yates' mother's friend who owed her a favour so really she was just helping yates distract them from him.  "Sarge I don't get it, what's he trying to do? I mean he's got us out here, he's up to something..." Kim said in confusion.  Jays eyes dropped and his stomach churned, "Ivy..." he said before remembering shes all alone.

              Hank realised what jay meant and turned around, "get back to the district now" he shouted to his unit before calling trudy.  "Trudy, I want you to round up everyone in the station and get outside now" he said down the phone before hanging up and leaving himself. The team sped off back to the district and when they got there they were greeted by dozens of officers and trudy stood waiting for answers. "Hank what's going on?" Trudy said while freezing her socks off. "Where's Ivy?" He said while scanning the crowd for her. Trudy turned to a patrol officer who had been taking the registration for her, "have you seen detective kate yet?" She said to the young officer. Jay was rummaging through the crowd in hopes to bump into her but he didn't find her.

The young officer traced the page but couldn't see Ivys name anywhere, "no Sarge, she didn't make her way out" she frowned. Jay shot hank a worried look but they soon shifted their focus over to the side of the building. The boy who had been kidnapped ran out of the back door screaming in fear, the intelligence unit swiftly ran over to the child so he wouldn't get hurt on the road, "hey hey you're okay. What's going on upstairs? Was there a girl with you?" Kim said while picking up the young boy. They child nodded but continued crying, "she's up there Sarge, and if the kids here then yates here too" jay said frantically. Hank nodded and gave out orders, "jay and hailey take cover in the building over there, but wait for my order before taking a shot" he said while signalling to the building opposite. He gave the rest of the unit orders, jay and hailey grabbed their snipper guns and got in position.

              They had their eyes peeled and the officers below had taken cover since they didn't know what was going on with yates and Ivy.

              "Just because your little units here to save you doesn't mean you'll get out alive" yates said to her as her eyes gleamed hearing the sound of hank talking to yates through the mega phone outside.  Ivy immediately switched off the light in her eyes and concealed her thoughts, "I've known you since your little incident a while back, Ive kept tabs on everything. You've been on my list since day one..." yates said as her pierced the knife ever so slightly into her arm and dragged it upwards making a small incision, it wasn't enough for her to bleed out and die but it would hurt like a bitch.  Ivy didn't flinch, she grit her teeth but she couldn't let him know he was winning, "good for you" she snapped back.  He laughed in her face and held the knife to her throat, "let's call your little boyfriend, say goodbye..." he said while FaceTiming jays number. 

              Jay and hailey were looking through the magnifying specs on the guns trying to get a visual on the pair.  He looked out of the window as his phone rang, *incoming FaceTime call from Ivy*.
"Sarge he's ringing from Ivys phone" jay said into his radio.  "Answer it, I'll get someone to moderate the call" hank replied back through the buzz of the radio.  Jay looked at hailey with a worried expression before answering the call.

            When the call finally connected he said Ivy who looked surprisingly calm and Yates holding a knife to her throat, he shuddered at the sight but began talking
Jay: "you've got my attention now let her go, you've got the whole block cleared. Isn't that what you wanted?"
Yates: "oh no. No no no, I was just calling to let you two say goodbye, you know, a little more formally..." he retaliated back to jays response while tightening the grip on Ivys neck.
Jay: "we won't be needing to say goodbye, we've got the whole perimeter covered"
Yates: *snickering* "just because you're gonna kill me doesn't mean I won't kill you're girl first"

              Jay grew angry but he kept his calm because he knew Yates would follow up with his plan, he muted the call and moved out of the camera view to whisper to hailey.  "They're in the break room" he said quickly before moving back to the camera.
Jay: "how about you let her go, you can walk out of there alive I promise"
Yates: "And ruin all the fun? No chance, you either say goodbye now or I end up and you'll never see her alive again"

             Jay panicked since he didn't want to lose Ivy, he looked into her eyes which were now glassy and bright red.  He went to speak again but he was cut of by Yates shouting at her from the other side of the call, jay couldn't really hear what he said but it must've been a threat because Ivy looked back to the camera with tears running down her face. 
Ivy: "I love you baby, I love you so much" she said while letting out a few sobs. 
 
                Hailey screwed up her face since hearing Ivy say her goodbyes was hard, jay had tears strolling down his cheeks but he didn't give in.
Jay: "no no no, don't say that okay? We're gonna get you out" he said more trying to convince himself.
Ivy: "I love you..." she said one last time before the call cut out.

                Jay slammed his phone down and keyed his radio, "Sarge what're we doing here?" he said with concern.  There was a static ring before hanks voice came through, "if you get the shot, take it but we have swat moving in now" he informed them.  Jay and hailey done as they were told and took positions by their guns again.

              "Ohhhh how sad. He didn't even say it back..." yates teased her as he jumped in front of her and held the knife to her chin.  Ivy noticed the swat team slowly making their way into the bullpen but she didn't look at them because that would only give them away, "that's because he didn't need to" she spat back at him.  Yates went to lunge towards her but there was a smash of the glass behind him and a bullet flew into his chest knocking him straight to the floor.  The knife clinked and bounced on the floor, Yates' blood was splattered across Ivy adding to her own blood stained shirt down one side.  "Offender down" one of the swat leaders said into the radio. 

             "Stand down" hanks said into his radio.  Jay and hailey sighed now that yates was dead but neither of them knew if he had killed Ivy first so they ran out of the building and follow the unit into the district.  The swat team undone her handcuffs and helped her stand up, by that time jay and the unit had ran up the stairs.  "Ivy!" Jay shouted as he ran around the swat team and into the break room, he carefully hugged Ivy as lovingly as he could since she was clutching her arm and blood was all over her.
