(I may be getting a little carried away 🥺)

You didn't really expect him to be back in his full glory. It's been about a month since both the first and last Dragonborn outwitted the dread god of knowledge, two weeks since you've seen the first grieve his past inside his once magnificent temple, and finally one week since since the both of you chose a place to truly call your home as a united front. A family, and yes, that even included Odahviing...Sahrohtaar, Relonikiiv and Kruziikrel. That wasn't really important though.

What was important to you now was the unbelievable somber look held in your love's stunning green orbs. He was never one to look so..sad. Anger, determination, pride and even love were looks you had become accustomed to seeing but this? No. It certainly wasn't a good look on him either. A mountain of a man crumpled into a slouching position on the chair beside your bed, a hand resting on his face, highlighting his unusually braid-less dirty blonde hair, the other hand with a empty glass.

You weren't exactly gifted in comforting another but..who knew your love more than you? It wasn't exactly like he had a following after all. His reputation was something the both of you were working to repair with each passing day, it wasn't going to be easy but there isn't much you wouldn't do for him. As much of a pain he was at first, fate brought your unity and ever since you've felt complete in ways you didn't even know you were incomplete before.

Perhaps that's why you found yourself approaching him with little to no thought. As his eyes rose to meet yours, your heart skipped a beat. Living life as an adventurer you thought such feelings or stories of them were silly and certainly far out of your reach. You were happy you were wrong after all this time. Even if you had the feeling those pretty green eyes would kill you one day, you were happy. Come to think of it..they once upon a time almost did, even if the priest claimed his actions were to "subdue not kill". In your opinion there were far more effective ways to calm someone than shocking to them to the point of being unable to stand.

Taking the glass from his hand with no resistance, you set it down on the wooden bed table with a light "clink". "Miraak.." you didn't know what to say..

The rise and fall of his eyes looking you over was obvious, a faint upturn of his lips somewhat easing the sorrowful expression on his face. He didn't speak though, an almost silent low hum serving as acknowledgment to your call of his name.

It surprised you just how stunning he always seemed to be. Even in his somber stupor, the way the candlelight's gentle golden glow illuminated his weather-beaten features was nothing short of alluring. Before you knew it you were mounting his lap, unsure of what to say but knowing at least what to do.

As you expected, his hands soon came to rest upon the curve of your hips. It was amusing just how much the two of you seemed to fit so perfectly together, physically, spiritually and so on. Maybe your unity was meant to be after all, perhaps Akatosh himself planned it? No matter, you wouldn't know the answer anyways.

"My dearest.." here you go. "What's wrong? You don't seem yourself lately." How you hoped he wouldn't close you out like he used to at the beginning of your relationship. You didn't want to push him but his actions lately have been concerning to say the least.

There it was. Any trace of happiness building retreating back to an almost defeated grimace. How it pained you.

With a deep grumbling drawl to his voice the eldest dovahkiin finally spoke. "It..it's nothing to do with us (y/n). Have no worries." He lilted, one hand leaving your hip in favor for cupping your face.

Mindlessly you leaned into the touch, you've missed the sweet intimacy. However as happy as the gesture made you, you were far from satisfied with his response. At least he didn't pretend to not hear you like he sometimes does. Hence, you took his hand and brought it to your chest giving his scarred knuckles a sweet kiss.
