"I didn't even bring any galleons, did I?" you looked down at your rabbit, disappointment in her eyes. You let out a heavy sigh and looked up at the beating sun. You've made it a long way from home, flying through the whole night. But, you're only human. Even a powerful witch like yourself needs rest after all that flying.

"ok, Kiki, game plan. Keep going straight." you looked down at her, and yet again she met your eyes with skepticism. "I didn't think this through."

You were in the middle of a deep and somewhat eerie forest, surrounded by humungous trees that rivaled the height of the manor. You continued to walk until you stopped dead in your tracks, looking upon the horizon. your eyes narrowed and your heart stopped, but up ahead, unless your brain was deceiving you, was the somewhat blurry vision of a tower. As you looked farther, you began to see more of the structure. You ran towards it, eyes wide and still in disbelief. As you approached the edge of the forest, you stopped and took a step back, gazing up at what you thought could only exist in your memory.

"no..." your mouth fell open but you caught it as the panic set in. "I can't be caught sleeping with the enemy, mother will kill me!" but the thought passed over your mind as you came to the realization there was a very real possibility you would not be returning to her. "this could be a fresh start...I could try on a new reputation." time passed, dusk began to crawl over the horizon and you still haven't moved from behind the tree.

"If I don't move now, mums going to come searching." the thought entered your mind but the moment it did you came to yet another realization that...she wouldn't. You knew your mother. She doesn't do the searching. "she probably thinks that I'll come to her on my own. She thinks I'll come crawling back, ready for initiation."  As you looked ahead you realized that you had no option. You aren't made do be a death eater, everyone knows it. "I don't know what I want, but it's here."

deep breath in...and out...and with one foot in front of the other you moved towards a small hut at the edge of the forest. The light was on, so somebody must be inside.

you stood at the door, tired and disheveled. your bag was rustling with a curious rabbit, your hair was very...disheveled from the ride, and your stomach was rumbling. you rose your hand to knock at the door, hesitated, and lightly hit it twice. a moment passed, but the door was answered by a...giant!

he was tall, with a beard more disheveled than the hair on your head. he was extremely tall and large, but you almost immediately recognized another kind and gentle soul. your surprised face relaxed, but tensed up again the moment you realized you went into this without a plan.

"I'm so sorry to bother you sir, but could I trouble you for a moment." the words just fell out of your mouth. He was speechless for a moment, but quickly a smile spread across his face.

"o'course!"

he stepped aside and closed the door behind you.

the house was small, but no smaller than the raided houses and empty cabins you've been accustomed to your whole life. it was quite charming. there was warm lighting, and small creatures crawling around from every nook and cranny.

"wow...I love your home. thank you for inviting me in."

he walked toward the stove that had a kettle ready to be brewed.

"ah no problem dear. have a seat would'ya?"

you sat at the chair in the center of the kitchen and stared off at the wonderful nick knacks.

then your bag began to ruffle again.

"oh Kiki! I'm so sorry, but you can't be slowing me down on a broom! you can come out now."

you opened up the backpack on the floor and lifted up the small bunny rabbit.

"why, who do we have here?"

the giants interest had been peaked.

"This is Kiki. She isn't quite accustomed to people yet, but she will warm up to you I'm sure!"

he held out his hands and Kiki immediately jumped into them and began to sniff around at her new habitat.

"I reckon she likes me!"

he was smiling and enticed by his new friend. you smiled and enjoyed seeing her relaxed after your trip. "

before we get into any o'the details, what's yer name?"

you hesitated, Lestranges were not well liked outside of their own world.

"y/n...and you?"

"Hagrid's me name. I be the gamekeeper here at Hogwarts. tell me a bit about why yer here. I ain't seen you before."

if there was one thing you learned from your experiences, it was how to put up a facade of confidence. you sat up straight, relaxed your muscles and spoke as calmly as you could. You looked elegant and confidant, obviously you were faking but nobody can ever point out a flaw in the mask of confidence you wear.

"Well that would be because I'm not a student. And, to put it simply I want to be."

there was a moment of silence as you looked down.

"...I have to be."

Hagrid could tell something was the matter. He was the kind of man who you could just talk to. He was kind like that. and so you spoke. throughout the night, bit by bit, your life was revealed to him. who you are, why you were there. and by the time the sun rose, you were underneath a soft blanket, falling into a troubled sleep.
