"So y/n, what's the plan?"
"I for one am a fantastic tree climber."
"That's great George. Do you want to climb up that tree and fetch us a squirrel for lunch?"
You three were approaching the forest, George and Fred looked up at the mighty tree you pointed at ahead of them. George smiled and glared intently at the tree.
"I'm gonna do it."
"We'll see."
"No I am."
"Yeah ok."
He took a deep breath in and stepped on foot back.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"
As he screamed he ran up to the tree and jumped like a monkey onto a branch floating above the ground. With both arms tightly gripped around the branch, he pulled himself up.
"The show of the century..." you were blushing. He wasn't graceful but man was he strong.
He continued to climb until he was out of sight.
A moment passed as you and Fred stood in silence.
"He may be up there for some time. Want to talk to me about what happened in the main hall?" Fred said to you without looking away from the tree.
"Not really."
He nodded is head understandingly.
"Then I won't press on."
You continued to stand in silence as branched and leaves were falling from the tree.
"Why do you two talk to me?"
"We haven't figured that out yet."
More silence.
"You're hot-"
You slapped him across the arm.
He giggled and looked up toward the tree. He inhaled deeply as he cupped his hands around his mouth.
"GEORGE! YOU HAVE TO HELP ME!" Fred screamed at an empty looking tree. George had disappeared into the leaves. You hoped he hadn't taken your challenge seriously.
All of a sudden, you saw George jumping from branch to branch and back down to the ground in seconds.
"How can I help?" He smirked and bowed with his hand in front of him.
You couldn't help but blush when he looked back up.
"Y/n wants to know why we hang out with her."
George looked into your eyes and looked you up and down.
"Because she hot."
"That's it." You exhaled and smiled, annoyed.
You grabbed your wand from your jacket, jokingly angrily, and pointed it at Fred.
"Im going to shrink you down to the size of Fliwick, and step on you while you cry to Georgie for help!"
Fred was stunned for a moment, but his face softened quickly as he realized you were joking. "So we're keeping Georgie then? It such a cute nickname, you would think he was your boyfriend."
Your face flushed tomato red and you lowered your wand in a moment of vulnerability.
"What? No-I-"
And in that moment Fred took out his wand and pointed it at you.
"EXPELLIARMUS!"
Your wand fell to the ground, and you had been defeated. You let out a breath and laughed.
"You son of a bitch." You said smiling. But still, defeat at the hands of Fred was an insult of its very own. You looked up at him and turned to George, still pink but not flustered and stuttering.
But George was bright to. As bright red as his hair, looking into your eyes, mouth open and trying to mutter out a sentence.
"I-I like Georgie." He admitted.
You looked deep into his eyes as the corner of your mouth turned up into a grin. Not a cocky grin, a weak and hopeless grin. The kind you get when a boy said he likes the cute nickname you've chosen for him.
"Then Georgie it is."
"And what about Freddie?" Fred pouted in sarcasm.
"You're going to need something of your own. How about...carrot top?"
"Too generic, demeaning. You can do better Lestrange."
"Alright I'll work on it. But while we're on the subject, let's move away from "Lestrange" please."
The twins looked at each other and back at you. They looked you up and down as they moved in closer. They spent several moments staring and judging, taking all their energy to find a suitable name.
"Egg."
"What? No! Where did you even get that?!"
"Got something better, Georgie?!"
"Alright alright. Take your time."
You exhaled, tired and and happy. You walked between the two twins and sat at the trunk of the tree. You bent down and let your back fall against the bark. You looked up and closed your eyes. You heard the sounds of footsteps coming toward you. One twin sat on each side of you.
"We never answered."
You immediately knew by the voice it was Fred who said that.
"So Fred is on my left...Georgies on my right then."
You moved your right hand just a little bit toward your side, hoping your hands might touch accidentally.
"Answered what?"
"Why we talk to you."
"Because I'm hot, you shallow dimwits."
"Of course..." George said. He was leading to something but was having trouble spitting it out.
"We saw you walking around the castle like us and I guess we just thought it would be fun to stick around to see what happened. You're interesting. And fun."
You felt the heat rush to your cheeks. You opened your mouth to say something. Hopefully something that sounded cool.
But before you could say anything, George had more to say.
"And you are hot."
You burst out into laughter. You opened your eyes and bent forward, giggling and blushing at the same time. You didn't notice it, but George loved that sight. His cheeks were red and he couldn't tear his eyes from you. His heart was beating faster, he never wanted to see you without this kind of happiness.
Everyone joined in, laughing together under a tree. Just the three of you. But in your heart, it was just you and George.
You and Georgie.
