Note: 6k!! Woohoo! I'd like to take a quick second to thank everyone who comments on my chapters and simply reads them, it truly means so much ✨💕 I really hope everyone enjoys this story as much as I do writing it ;3

The air was becoming sharper as it entered your lungs, providing your chest with a cold tinge if pain with every deep breath you took. It was becoming more and more difficult to walk as the night grew colder and longer, but like an oiled machine your movement were swift and fluid. You were in control. Or so you had to keep reminding yourself.

"Harry, you're sure you've got no clue about where the trophy is?" You turned your head back to him, not only for a fraction of a second. "Eyes ahead." You reminded yourself.

"No! I don't know why you keep asking that!"

"Shhhh!!" Cedric shushed him before you slapped him.

"I don't know why you keep asking that..." Harry repeated, but in a whispered tone.

"Because, oh great chosen one," you began sarcastically. "You are the king of lucky coincidences. You can't tell me that at least part of you isnt confident in the fact you are somehow destined to win this arbitrary game?"

Harry remained silent, digesting the forwardness of a reality he hadn't yet considered.

"You didn't even put your name in the goblet. It's all very suspicious." It rolled your eyes, hoping he may connect some dots on his own.

He did not.

"Someone put your name in the goblet, and it wasn't you." You were still walking, eyes ahead.

"That much we can be sure of. And to reiterate, 'professor Moody' was seen leaving the maze before the trial began. I have a feeling it was for a reason other than what he would admit..."

"And, as recent events have highlighted, a special surprise awaits us at the end of this trial."

"Someone wants me dead." Harry allowed the words to fall out of his mouth, though it wasn't his first realization.

"A lot of people want you dead, dimwit."

"What's got you in such a sour mood?" Harry snapped, and immediately regretted. Cedrics face fell, eyes wide at Harry.

"...dude." Cedric nudged his head down at Harry, hoping he would mend his mistake.

"A lot of things have me in a 'sour mood'." You sneered at him, turning your head back again. Your face was relaxed, but yet so stiff you didn't even realize how hard you were clenching yourself jaw until you opened it to speak.

"More things have me in a sour mood than you will ever have the misfortune of understanding." You let out a deep breath and raised your head, turning it back ahead. You continued to walk slowly, allowing the others to follow.

"Sorry, y/n." Harry looked down.

"Of anyone, I know you understand the most. We have more in common than anyone thinks, so I get it." And you really did. The suspense and fear you felt in the pit of your stomach forced you to be visibly on edge, but on any other occasion you held a certain respect for Harry that no one else did. The kind that when you looked at him, you could see a small portion of yourself.

You all walked in silence for what may have been a few more minutes, cutting corners and jogging when you heard a distant scream. But, at some point, you all were met with a long hallway of twigs and leaves that made you stop in your tracks, forcing Harry and Cedric to do the same.

"This is a theatrical entrance if I've ever seen one..." Cedric said. "Is that...?"

You all squinted your eyes to focus on what lay ahead. Despite only your wands illuminating the way, you all knew what it was.

"Finally." You let out an exhausted breath.

The moment you all took a step forward, something in you shifted into place. Something washed over you, and made you realize it would never be the same again.

"...run."

You all looked back.

"RUN!"
