chapter 34: Serenity's court *

"Your majesty, things have take a unique turn of events. " said rei over the phone.

"Go ahead... " I said in a groggy like state. Just how long was my nap? Two hours? Three hours? Probably way more.....

"There was a small group of Avarian space pirates that crash landed, followed later by their rescue team. Well, after a scuffle and with the assistance of Tamono and kikko, we managed to force them to surrender. They then took hikaru hostage and made demands, to which the unveiled the reason behind their desperate acts..... Your majesty, the invaders are the last of their kind." Rei explained over the phone.

To be honest, I was still half asleep and barely comprehended what she said, but I did catch the tail end of it.

"Bring em in when you can and we'll strike a negotiation with them. " I said with a yawn.

"As you wish.... " she said, before hanging up.

I got up and put on my fuzzy robe and my bunny slippers. After I made my way to the kitchen, I prepared myself a large cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows and whipped cream. So what if it's unhealthy? Never stopped me! Nope, I'mma eat and drink sweets till I drop!

After I made my brew, I went to my throne and dusted it off and made it look good, nodding at how splendid it looked. Taking a sip of my beverage, I then turned around to find rei, hikaru, Tamono, kikko, and the prisoners staring at me. I unfortunately spewed my cocoa on rei in surprise and she let out a scream.

"I AM SO SORRY!! "

"GRRRRRR!! JUST GET DRESSED AND GET OUT HERE!! "

"EEP! " I squealed before making a mad dash to my room, spilling cocoa everywhere. At least I was able to down half of it.... Until I burned my tongue and throat, tripped over my robe and fell on the floor.

Endymion opened up the door.

"Darling are you o-... kay? "

"I didn't know that *hic* rei and the others would show up so quickly *hic* and I spewed cocoa on rei *hic* and she yelled at meeeeeeee!! " I said crying.

He groaned and helped me up, then helped me get dressed and clean up the mess.

"You should be careful, you're queen, and if they see your clutzy side, they'll probably think less of you.... " he said, taking a wet napkin and wiping my mouth of cocoa.

"I know I know.... " I said, pouting a bit.

"Alright, let's see what they want... " he said as we walked into the throne room.

Rei had just finished cleaning herself with the help of kikko absorbing the cocoa. Never gonna get used to that. Rei looked at me, still fuming from earlier.

"Ahem, pardon what happened earlier.... I wasn't expecting such a quick return. Anywho, so you're part of the Avarian pirates. Do you have names? " I asked, sitting down beside my beloved, soon after, my daughter quietly stood by me. Poor baby looks pale from the stress and worry over that boy....

"Jamus" said a flamingo.

"Rufus" said another.

"Damus" said another.

"Lamus" said another

"Carl" said the final one.

"Carl? " Kikko said looking at him.

"Mother couldn't think of another name with 'us' at the end! " he said defensively.

"OK, sheesh.... " she said, backing off.

"I'm rosko. " said a rooster.

"Ventah" said another.

"Crem" said the final rooster.

I clapped my hands together and pressed my thumbs to my lips. This was gonna be a challenge because they all look seemingly alike. However, I noticed that they had numerical tags on their suits as well as one having a unique emblem on theirs. He must be the leader of the five.

"Are you the leader? " I said, pointing to jamus.

"Yes, I am."

"Tell me why we should help your people? You threw ours in an ice storm, threatened to kill us all, committed several crimes against us, threatened to take everything we had and planned on it, and nearly killed the people I hold dear..... " I said, giving them a cold look. My husband shot me a look as if to say "what on earth?!" But I remained like this. I'm going to help regardless, I'm just curious to their response. Everyone I knew was shocked, but the pirates in question didn't know any better.

To my surprise, the ruffians got on their knees and bowed. They began to beg to me.

"Please.... I know we don't deserve it, but please save our kind! We've been turned away by every planet and civilization before we even became pirates! You gotta believe us! We used to be merchants! Shipping crewman! But... After we've been raided.... Lost our kin to disaster after disaster.... Been turned away.... Our captain said we were to fight back to survive! He couldn't take it anymore! Neither could we! We lost all our females to a terrifying race called the yoru! When we left during hatching season, they attacked our people..... All the unborn and young hatchlings.... The females and mothers.......turned to nothing... " jamus said on the verge of crying, before bursting to tears.

"Jamus.... " said a rooster, crying as well.

They all began to cry, I even began to cry. I could tell it was genuine, no lies, no treachery, they show remorse and stated they only became pirates to just simply survive until they got help. I plan to be that help they need!

"Our captain will likely stand down when he hears you can help us! We'll give you everything we have! We'll even help get rid of the damages! Just let us contact our dear captain! " jamus pleaded.

"I am a merciful and loving queen.... I will help your people. Let's stop this madness at once! Feel free to use our communication room! Hurry! " I said standing up and leading them to it.

I can't sit idly by as a race is crying for help. No way will I ever be cruel to those in need. Hopefully, we can reach them in time....
