chapter 29: S.S. CHIMERA *

The whole blowing up the moon bit that captain Qrow said was merely bait for us to get in range of his cannons. Sure, they could reach all the way to earth if they wanted to, but logically speaking, if they did blow up the moon, they wouldn't be able to land at all. A bluff that we fell for, way too easily.

"Ye be fools to trying take on our mother ship! The ah..... What'd we decide on again? " Qrow said as chatter in the background filled it.

"It looks ugly.... Like several ships slapped together.... " I said, dead pan over the radio.

"Because it is! Every vessel we defeated, we merged into this magnificent beast! " he said, seemingly proud of his abomination.

"Pfft, call it the S.S. chimera then you freak! " said minako.

"Mina! " I said.

"What? " she replied.

"Chimeraaa.... Hmmmm..... Chimeraaa.... It's the S.S. CHIMERA boys!! " he said as he was met with applause.

"Are you serious?! " said minako.

"Fire!! " he shouted as the large cannons fired at us.

We all spread out, taking a more "divide and conquer" approach. Me and Setsuna, minako, and makoto took the front cannons and artillery, while everyone else took the side cannons.

It was like we were in a storm of lazers and plasma fire. Each of the larg cannons had a delay to em, like a thirty second delay. During said delay, the auto cannons would fire to defend then main cannons. They would alternate like this, giving us seemingly no breathing room for error.

"Damn I can't get a shot in! " I said in the cockpit.

"Probably everyone is having a rough time with this.... There's no break at all... " said Setsuna, who was growling in frustration like I was.

This went on for a good while. Swoop in, try to fire at the guns, it gets too hot, retreat. Lather, rinse, repeat, it didn't seem to get us nowhere! However, something startling happened that took everyone off guard...

"I spot several floating discs hovering over earth! They're zipping around leaving holographic mesh!" cried Madori.

"What?? That must be what's powering the barrier! " said hanzo.

"Blast they've figured us out! Deploy all units! " shouted Qrow.

"But we might hit them sir! " said a cannoneer.

"I SAID DEPLOY ALL UNITS!! That's our only key to getting the resources to mine stardust! " shouted Qrow.

They then all came out of the woodwork in the middle of all this craziness. Things are about to get hairy for sure.

"Dammit you two! Now look what you've done! " I said over the radio.

"Actually this is ideal. We can have a few of us go for the discs while the rest deal with the enemy ships and cannons. They'll try their hardest not to hit their comrades, so play dirty and fly closely to the ships as a shield. Makoto, teguma, to me! Let's let the sun shine through! " hanzo shouted.

"Yes, let's hurry post haste! " said teguma.

"Right behind ya! " said makoto as they both followed hanzo to the barrier.

"Gah! The pigeon flock won't be enough! We gotta send out something deadlier to stop em! " said Qrow.

"I'll take them down... " said a voice.

"Well well well! If it isn't the crimson eagle! Show em who's boss! Deploy at will! " Qrow said.

Just then, a hatch opened up and a large ship flew out of it. It looked heavily armed to the teeth and rather intimidating.

"Hanzo! You've got company! A large ship is approaching y'all! " I said on the radio.

"I knew it'd be too easy... " said hanzo with a sigh.

"I'll take care of said vessel, you two liberate earth of the barrier! " teguma said as he performed a one-eighty and flew towards tbe crimson eagle.

"Teguma! Grrrr lemme help you! " said Makoto.

"No! Earth's survival is top priority! He's buying us time to destroy the barrier! If you go after that thing, it'll take longer for me to destroy the barrier! " hanzo shouted.

"I...... Fine.... Just be careful teguma! Don't be afraid to call for help! " she said as she resumed flying by hanzo.

"I'll take note of that... " teguma said.

"Huuuh you look like one of our own! However, regardless of what you are. An enemy of my noble captain, is and enemy of mine! " said crimson eagle as it went into mech mode.

"I won't let you hinder our progress of liberating earth of your grasp! " teguma said, flying at him, guns blazing.

Hanzo and Makoto are working on the barrier. Teguma is holding off the crimson hawk and his large, intimidating mech. The rest of us were dealing with enemy ships and cannons blasting at us. We must break through and get inside the behemoth of a vessel, but how? With everything going on at once, it's seemingly impossible at the moment. However, as long as we have a plan, we have something right? It's an all out war with two giants blocking our path!
