Chapter 7: the sky went dark *

I woke up with back pains, due to teguma's guest bed. Though I did flop onto the bed and almost instantly went to sleep the night before, I got a rude awakening as to how stiff the mattress was. It would be obvious that nobody has slept on this bed at all and that teguma, being teguma, probably perched on a building and slept, slept in his chair, or even in his dojo.

I got out of bed, feeling stiff and sore, and proceeded to do stretches. As I limbered up, it felt as though all my bones popped back into place. After I did all that, I went to do my morning routine I picked up on by the humans. I used to not care about my hygiene and stuff because I was in hell n all, but it actually feels good to do it! The clean taste in my mouth after brushing, the squeaky clean smell and feeling of stepping out of a nice hot shower, and even down to just brushing my hair. It felt incredible to me!

I walked to the dining area, I assumed it was the dining area,  and seen a note. It was from teguma, saying that he went to the hospital to visit san and the gang. It also said to help myself to breakfast, just clean up after myself. I threw away the note and began to hunt for some breakfast in the fridge and cupboards.

Little to my surprise, all he had was bird seed, nuts, bread, and sunflower seeds. I took a deep sigh and ate some bread and nuts for breakfast with some water. It so quiet, nothing but wind chimes and the plonking of the water bamboo thing outside.

Every now and then I heard cicadas hissing in the forest part, indicating the summer heat. I was cold blooded so it didn't phase me much, however I did tend to shed my dead scales. This only happened if I was in the sunlight too long though.

Once I ate my meager, proteinless meal, I got up and cleaned up after myself. I washed the dishes, the crumbs off the table, then my hands lastly. After all that, I left his house, being sure to lock it up well before leaving.

Walking through the village, the barber shops were all the rage. They were packed with vulepkin looking for hair cuts, fur trimming, and a good shave for the men. I haven't a hair on my body, besides my hair. My hair always just regenerated if it were cut, however I've been curious about being shaved by a trained barber. To have a hot towel wrapped around your face, lathered up afterwards, casually having a conversation while being shaved in a comfy chair.... Haaa if only I could experience that....

I made my way to the hospital as I always did. Didn't see kyubi today, it's a shame really. I would have loved to have seen her bright, shining smile. San is more important anyways, he's still in a comatose. I wonder if he's gotten a little better at least.

I made it up to the gate, scanned my knight's ID given to all of us shortly after the dark veil incident,  instead of showing it to the guard this time. Since the guard was on patrol, it was all automated. When the gates opened up, I made my way to the hospital.

While passing the fountain and courtyard, I felt a sense of uneasiness. I felt as if there would be more threats on the horizon and very much soon. My gut kept directing me to the sky, as though to tell me, it'd come from the sky? What, is a giant bird or dragon gonna fly in from nowhere?

I entered the hospital and took the nearby elevator to San's room. When I reached my floor, I could already hear the craziness unfold.....

"YOU BATHED HIM?! " I heard Usagi say as I got closer to his room.

"Yeah, aren't males supposed to bathe males? " said Makoto as I stood just outside the door.

Ami stuttered and freaked out a bit before tamono and minako stepped in.

"My baby is trying to rest.... I'll kick you two out if you cause any more noise! " Tamono said.

"Yeah, plus I'd rather Ami be in charge, since the doctors here are trying to give up on him and pull the plug! " minako said.

"THEY WHAT?! " the two said, then tamono growled at them, causing them to whimper.

"We're sorry...." the two said, bowing.

"Nobody's gonna do anything to sanny boy, Ami has it all under control! " I said walking in all badass like.

"I'll make it a royal decree that san will not have his life support pulled!" Princess usagi said.

"Sven, I trust you slept well?" Said teguma.

I wanted to say, "Hell no!" but I kept it to myself.

"I slept alright, breakfast was kinda-" i said, trailing off a bit.

"I know, i suppose i need to keep some human food around for guest, do i? " he said with a chuckle.

"Yeeeeaaaa, so what's up doc? " I asked ami.

"Actually, I'm a nurse. He's recovering slowly, but surely. My mother is overseeing his healing and recovery." she said.

All of a sudden, it started to get dark outside real fast. Eventually it became pitch black, and the street lamps came on. Only the lights from the streets, the city, and castle illuminated the area.

"What on earth..... " I said, trying to see a cause for it all. It was mid day and summer, no rain or anything..... Something isn't right.....

Is it another dark veil?!
