chapter 19: walking with you *

Ever since I could remember, I never had a big sister or older girl to look up to growing up. Mom and dad loved me enough to where I didn't need a figure like that. Everyone called me a freak for having light blue, sparkling hair. Would blame me for the air being cold. Some would shove me into mud puddles to see if they'd freeze. My childhood was cruel when I was around other kids my age, however, mom and dad would make things all better. Even when other parents would blame the worst on me and give them a hard time.

When I accidentally killed my family and village when I was having an emotional crisis, I became numb as the cold. I scavenged the village for clothes and lived in my old home for years with no one. Ya know what though? Even though I went through all that, I gained a family again! With many sisters, a cool mommy, and a super strong big brother and Sissy! I hope to one day be as strong as they are, so I need to do whatever I can to do so!

As me and Rei, otherwise known as sailor mars, walked around, we came across several telephone wires and electrical lines frozen above us.

"Haaaa.... I guess it's time to get to work... " rei said, seeming to be aggravated. She didn't bother shouting an attack name this time, since this was just another run through.

"How did you get so strong?" I asked, wiping away the sweat from my forehead. Yukki onnas are sensitive to heat after all.

"I was a shrine maiden before I was a scout. I had a gift of being connected to the spirit realm and being able to communicate with the spirits. My late grandfather, bless his soul, taught me how to be a proper shrine maiden and tend to it daily." She explained.

"Wooooow, so cool! " I exclaimed with a smile.

"Thanks hehe, so....sooner or later, I met Usagi, whose Queen Serenity now. Ever since that fateful encounter, I became an senshi, as well as a stronger shrine maiden. My past incarnation is connected with my power, so I merely just gained back what I lost back then. Over time, I trained and grew stronger, coming up with new ways to manipulate fire and evolve. Hard work and dedication will take you far Hikaru. " she said, moving her flames to another bunch of frozen lines.

"Hard work and dedication..... Right! I understand now! So, all I gotta do is get creative with my powers and skills to get better at being a knight! " I said, getting excited.

"Mhm, that's the key. Also, overcoming your weaknesses too. Boy, did I have a lot of those.... " she said, thawing out the lines.

"Weaknesses....... Mine is heat and fire, I... Its hard to be around that.... Maybe I can boost my tolerance? " I said, wiping sweat off my forehead.

"Hmmmmm..... Maybe have your mom, sister, or brother set up a fire and inch closer to it over time? Mmmmaybe take off the thermal control suit for a short time on sunny days until you don't need it anymore?" She said, moving to some more lines and thawing them.

"Heheh.... Well....actually the suit keeps me from freezing everything I touch, it's mainly high heat from fire and torches. Even with the suit, I sweat when I get too close to them. " I said, watching her thaw the lines.

"Then, try the fire thing. Sit close to where you Sweat, maybe for twenty to thirty minutes. Then mark where you sat. The next day, move a bit closer, mark it, do it all again! Before you know it, you'd have completely overcome your first weakness! " she said with a smile.

"Wow!.... Ya know, my mommy is a shrine maiden too! She's so cool! What about yours? " I asked curiously.

Her flames died out as she went quiet. She looked at the ground, visibly upset.

"Oh no! Did I say something wrong?? " I said, about to cry.

"N.... No.... She's.... She passed away in the hospital from an illness..... My.... My father... He only cared about himself!! He never came to see her or me!! He only cared about his politics and career!! He wouldn't even bother to come on my birth-" she said, before she stopped and noticed I was crying my eyes out.

I thought I hurt her feelings and that she was angry at me over it. So, I couldn't help, but cry. She came over to me and held em, consoling me and apologizing for yelling.

"I.... Hic.... Thought I... Hic.... Hurt you!"

"Nonono shhhhhhh I shouldn't have gotten so angry over my family problems! Shhhh shhhh it's OK! I'm not mad at youuuu! "

"Hic..... Promise?.... "

"I promise! " she said with a smile and rubbing my head

I finally calm down and wipe my tears away as rei looked around and nodding at her work. The lines were thawed for now....however, as I looked up, I could see faint explosions and streaks of light fill the sky..... I hope big bro sven comes back alright.....
