Chapter 17: The Hot Pink Flamingos *

I veered away from the ship's fire and... Well.... Uh... Fire, and regrouped with hanzo in panic.

"What is that stuff and why should we avoid it??" I said into the radio. I knew the answer was obvious because it's fire, but I wanted more details.

"That stuff is fiery plasma. It works a bit differently what you think it is. Plasma is like napalm, but in space. " hanzo said.

Everyone was silent on the radio.

"Go into more depth moron! " said his sister.

"Right, er.... Sorry.  Napalm is basically  oil and fire. Fire requires oxygen to stay lit, however there isn't any oxygen in space. So the flame would either die immediately or won't ignite at all. Plasma is more energy based heat with a slightly sticky base to it." He explained.

"Basically..... Space fire. " I said.

"Yes Sven.....space fire." he said.

All of our radios crackled to life as the ships talked directly to us.

"Greetings earthling primates! We're the hot pink flamingos! We're here to turn your little group of Neanderthals into glowing ash hahaha!!" Said one of them.

"Yes, also we already know that you have radio tappers installed on your rigs! So there's no point in trying to be sneaky, we can hear every word you say! " another said.

"Don't buy into it guys, it's just intimidation! They can't possibly know-" said hanzo before being cut off.

"Intimidation you say? Hahaahahha this it is not! " said one of them.

"We've known this from the very beginning, once we seen how coordinated you are... " said another.

"Aye! These pigeon foot troops haven't the tech we have! So your tactics are done! A-ha! " said another.

"Dammit! " exclaimed hanzo.

"Easy bro, we still have this! Even if they can hear us, we still can win! " his sister said.

Suddenly Michiru yelped on the radio.

"Neptune! Are you ok?! " said haruka.

"N-no! One's bearing down on my ship! I can shake him! " she said.

"I've got one fledgling in my sights! " said a flamingo.

Off in the distance, I could see her ship being attacked. She could dodge the semi-sluggish streams of plasma, but they were clearly starting to overwhelm her. Each time he fired, the stream of pink, heated plasma, would linger in the space for a moment. This in turn would damage the ship if it touched the lingering energy.

"Don't worry I'm co-urk!! I'm being swarmed by the drones now!" Said haruka, we forgotten about the drone like ships that were piloted by apparently pigeons.

"We're going to have to split up, everyone spread out and take out the flamingos! Don't tail them or you'll fry! " hanzo said, in which everyone agreed.

We split up and helped one another. Teguma aided haruka in taking out the drones swarming her, alongside minako. I, while choking back my pride and grudge, went to help Michiru fend off the flamingo ship. Midori followed suit, staying close to my ship in case if enemy ships decide to ambush me like they did Haruka. Hanzo and the others, went to go deal with the other flamingos.

I followed the streaks of plasma to the source, the bright lights casted a glare  and semi hid the enemy ship. I fired a few shots at them and some landed, causing splashes of plasma to come off their ship, which is what it's coated in.

"Gah! Enemy fire!..... Soooo you decided to come save her huh? Think you're a hero huh? Well I'll take your challenge! Fighters to my location! " he shouted, as more ships came into the area.

"Got this sven? I'll keep the ships off you." said midori.

"I think so, I did fire the shot after all.... " I said, unassuringly.

"You can do it sven, just pretend it's any other dog fight you've done so far.  Just remember, keep away from the rear, and don't get hit by that stuff. It will wreck your Shields fast! " she said as she went off to take care of other enemy ships.

"I am lupus of the hot pink flamingos! I will see your ship fry hahahah!! " he said laughing crazily and coming after me.

"I'll help you sven for helping me. " said Michiru.

"But why? You almost killed me last time we met! " I said.

"I was wrong to do so. Trust me, I was scolded by the Queen quite heavily over my actions. However, now isn't the time to do a review of our past. Earth is in jeopardy of an ice age, and we're the last defense against it. " she said as she flew in to help me deal with lupus.

"you're right, we're allies now anyways. Just as long as you don't shoot my way. " I said with a chuckle.

As she flew around trying to line up a torpedo shot, she kept getting pelted by enemy fire from the pigeon ships.

"Ugh how annoying! I can't lock on with these pests!" She growled over the radio.

"Help Madori, I'll take him! " I said.

"Are you sure? You seem uneasy. " she said.

"Don't tell me what I sound like, just keep them busy! " I said.

"Uncertainty to determined on a dime.... You are a quirky individual indeed. Very well, but if you have troubles, don't be afraid to ask for help. Pride gets you killed faster than a bullet after all.... " she said as she went after the pigeons.

"She seems to have backed off, it's just you and me, whoever you are! " lupus said coming at me once more.

"Bring it! I'll make an asteroid your grave plot! " I said as I flew towards him, engaging him in combat.
