Chapter 25:

Lily looked at me like she's asking for my approval if she can come to him. I didn't talk. I looked away from her. I saw her feet moved that made me look at her again.

"Don't you dare come near that guy," I said before I clenched my jaw. "Don't you dare, Lily."

Her mouth parted. "I-I'm just going to welcome him back in this country..." she reasoned. Her mouth opened again like she wants to talk more but she stopped herself.

"No."

She sighed. I was about to pull her away when Vance came in front of us before throwing the cigarette butt near the trash can. I moved my head and was ready for a fight when Lily held my hand.

"Luke..."

I looked at her face and she's pleading for me. Fuck.

"Lily, congratulations."

As soon as Vance walked towards us, I immediately smell the cigarette from him. I looked at him; he didn't even bother to look at me as he gave the flower to Lily. I took it from her and throw it away.

"Luke!" saway ni Lily.

"What?! We're going home!" I shouted.

I saw the people around us, looking at the three of us like we're making a scene.

"Pare, kino-congrats ko lang si Twila. Kaibigan ko siya bago ko siya naging girlfriend at ex, kaya may karapatan ako," paliwanag ni Vance sa tunog na nanghahamon.

Tang ina.

"Lily, let's go."

I pulled her away from him and we went out of the place. Lily's trying to remove her hands from me and she's angry, I know. But I can't let her talk with him! Not after I know what they had before I even came to her life.

"Luke, ano bang ginagawa mo?! It's been two years since Vance and I broke up, what the fuck is your problem?!" she said, irritated.

We stopped in front of my car. I heaved a deep sigh as I ran my finger through his hair. "Anong problema ko? Tang ina, ba't lalapitan mo pa 'yon?" inis na tanong ko.

"Ano!? Wala na nga kami, kaya wala ka na dapat ikatakot!" sigaw niya. Mas lalo akong nainis nang dahil do'n. "Ano bang ikinakatakot mo? Luke, ikaw ang boyfriend ko. Ex na 'yon—"

"Ex mo 'yon!" sigaw ko habang itinuturo ang daan na nilakaran namin kanina mula sa venue ng graduation. "Ex mo 'yon! 'Yun na 'yon, Lily!"

She sighed. "So what? Ano kung ex ko? Dapat bang matakot ka na? May dapat ka pa bang ikatakot, ha?"

I gulped as I watched her get angry at me too. Damn, I should be the one who's angry here. Bakit nagagalit din siya?

"Paano kung umuwi 'yon para balikan ka?" I asked before gulping repeatedly while my heart is beating so fast. "Paano kung mawala ka sa akin?"

Lily's lips parted as soon as I asked her that. "Luke, hindi ako mawawala. At kung bumalik siya para balikan ako, ano naman?"

"Anong ano naman?" mas lalo akong nainis sa mga pinagsasabi niya. Hindi na lang sana kami nag-usap ngayon. Parang pinagtatanggol niya pa sa akin 'yong putang ina.

"Ano naman? Kung bumalik siya para balikan ako, wala akong pakialam, Luke. Ikaw ang mahalaga sa akin. Ikaw na, hindi ba? You shouldn't feel inferior because this is you now. Kung babalikan ko siya, hindi na lang sana kita sinagot. Kung babalikan ko siya, sana noon pa, 'di ba? Kung babalikan ko siya... sana sumunod ako sa kan'ya."
