I had a bike when I was younger
Cartoon characters pasted on the front and the training wheels in the back;
It was before we even had neighbors
When the roads weren't all full and packed.

Life gives you a pair of training wheels and a helmet
They give me hands to grip with, and couple of times I fell out;
But the way I see it, what was it all for?
Life gave me training wheels and they take it away when I'm not yet ready, what was it all about?

These days I grow up and watch the new little kids on their bikes
Cartoon characters on the front and they paddle so quickly;
Slowly as months go by, I watch them ride back and forth until they didn't need the training wheels
They get to ride what I gave up on shortly.

The neighbors' kids reached the end of the street as I write this poem
While they're out there without their training wheels, here I sit, still figuring out how to keep my balance;
It's one of my suffering to watch everyone else rise to the top, with the things I learnt first but gave up too fast.
