Part 14

Toni pov

"Mom what are you doing here?" I asked shocked

"I'm outta rehab, they said I was doing great and I could come home, I was going to tell you but I wanted to surprise you" she answered

I just stood there staring at her

"Well are you going to stand there or are you going to come give me a hug"

I just stood there staring at her, I don't know why but it didn't even feel real, it felt like she wasn't even my mother I felt like she was a stranger

"So tell me everything I miss while I was gone" she said walking over to the couch and taking a seat

I just stood there

"Toni I'm your mother I'm not going to bite, why you acting like you don't know me?" She asked

Because I don't really know you I thought to myself

"Come sit I missed you and you treating me like I'm a stranger in my own home" she said patting the seat next to her

You are a stranger, but I did miss you

I walked over and sat beside her

"So tell me what you been up to, I wanna know everything" she spoke

"Well I got suspended from school, I got in trouble so much that I might get expelled if I get in trouble again, I'm failing so bad I might not pass so I gotta pay 400 dollars so I can take the recovery classes so I can pass and I had to get a job because I don't have 400 dollars" I spoke

"Wow that's a lot... any thing else going on with you?" She asked

"Well me and Marty got into a huge fight because she won't let me breathe without being on top of my case, so now I'm like homeless which is why I came here even though it's not much of a place to live, a girl that I use to have feeling for dropped me for her boyfriend and now she all over me confusing me" I spoke

It got silent for a couple of seconds

"Toni... is there anything good in your life?" She asked

You would know if you have been here for me but instead you chose drugs over me

"Umm... Reagan I guess" I said shrugging

"Who's Reagan?" she asked smiling

"This girl I've been dating for some time now" I responded

"Awww my baby growing up so fast, I can't wait to meet this Reagan girl" she spoke smiling

I gave her a small smile

As much as I want to hate her and curse her out I couldn't do it, I was happy to see her, I was happy to talk to her again, I was happy to finally have a mother again

"I'm glad you're home" I spoke

"Me too" she spoke grabbing my hand and lightly squeezing it

"Mom I know you said you would, but I would love for you to stay this time" I spoke looking at her

"Sweetheart I know I always say this but I'm not leaving this time, I'm tired of leaving you to be alone, I'm staying for good this time, I promise" we spoke looking sincere

She never promised before so she maybe be telling the truth this time... hopefully she is sincere this time

"I wish I could've spend my whole birthday with you but you just got here" she spoke
