Nico was kissing me and I still couldn't believe it. I didn't know where it would lead us, I didn't even know what was he thinking about. At the beginning of our friendship, he told me he wanted to sleep with me but I let very clear that I didn't want more than what we had. I thought he just wanted that, he was used to sleeping around, I bet most of his friends had passed by his bed. But he told me he liked me as more than a friend, what did he mean? Did I just unconsciously agreed to have sex occasionally? Or did he mean he liked me romantically?
How could he say I was smart? I felt so dumb. I didn't understand a thing.
His phone rang. Nico pulled away and gave me a tight smile, grabbing it from his pocket. As he talked, he intertwined his fingers with mine, and pulled me towards the red brick building again. I let him do, I felt dizzy and a tingling sensation down my stomach, the butterflies from our kiss still fluttering around. When we got inside, he ended the phone call. He guided me down the stairs, people passing by and congratulating him. Some of them gifted me with curious glances, some of them as if they knew something I did not.
"People are loving it." I said.
"They're making good offers." He smiled, guiding me to the bar.
"What is a good offer to you?" I asked, leaning on the bar.
"We're talking thousands." He muttered, getting closer to my ear so I could hear him over the music.
"Really?" I asked, opening my eyes wide.
He nodded, a big smile on his face. "It's a good night."
He ordered two drinks, one coke for him, one non alcoholic apple liqueur for me. It tasted sweet, he thought I would like it.
"I want one." I said, a little embarrassed nodding to the paintings. A blush creeping up my neck.
"You want one?"
"It's only fair, since I was the one who inspired you." I half smiled, taking a sip.
When he got closer to my face, I caught my breath. "I'll paint one just for you." He spoke into my ear.
"Nico, my boy!"
We quickly turned around to see Luca and Riley, along with that couple they introduced me once, Ace and Tina, I believe they were called.
"Hey!" Nico laughed as Luca picked him up from the floor, ruffling his hair.
They all talked for a moment, congratulating him, until Riley saw me.
"Cara, hey!" She smiled at me as she gave me a quick hug. "Do you remember Martina, right?"
Oh, so that was her name. "Yeah." I said waving at her.
She smiled. "So, how does it feel being the main character in the room?"
"The main character?"
"Girl, you're all over the paintings, everyone is worshipping you."
I took a sip, trying to calm down. I was used to being the center of attention when I was on the ice, but right now I just felt like a fish out of the water.
"To be honest," I began, "I didn't know what the exhibition was about."
"Really?" Riley asked surprised. They both opened their eyes wide.
"But you let him paint you." Martina added.
"Nope." I chuckled. "It was all in his imagination. I could never pose like that." I mumbled, more embarrassed by each minute.
"They're still not dating, Martina." Riley smiled, somewhat looking excited. "Can you believe that?"
"What?" I asked, not understanding.
