Seeing my best friend kiss her worst enemy wasn't necessarily how I'd imagined I'd be starting off the new year.
I'd gotten up with a terrible hangover along with recollection of the events that took place just last night. For a split moment, I'd even thought it had all been a dream until Nina and I actually spoke about it this morning.
"It's not what it looks like." Ruby blurted out.
"You two were literally sucking on each others faces two seconds ago. What does is that supposed to look like?!" Nina yells over the music.
They both open their mouth to speak, but it doesn't seem like any words come out.
"I'm too fucking drunk to have this conversation. Just meet me at my house at 2 tomorrow and we'll deal with it then." Nina huffed, tugging on my arm.
Casey's face is filled with guilt and worry and I don't take my eyes away from hers as Nina dragged me away.
Which brought us to where we are now.
Nina's house.
In the living room.
All four of us.
In silence.
Ruby and Casey were seated across from Nina and I. Casey's lips remained in a straight line and she avoided any eye contact. Instead, staring straight onto the coffee table in front of us.
I wasn't mad. Just very very very confused.
Nina on the other hand seemed a bit more upset than I did.
"Sooo..." I cough awkwardly breaking the silence. "Anyone want to start?"
"I'm sor-" Casey and Ruby both start at the same time, stopping to look at each other. Casey gives Ruby a sincere look and a tiny nod before Ruby turns to Nina.
"Nina, I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner it's just- we just didn't know how to tell you guys and we weren't sure how either of you would take it." Ruby says. She looks a bit frantic and worried. Something that was kind of unusual for such a serious person.
I look over at Nina who is still glaring down Ruby with squinted eyes. I pinch my bottom lip, glancing over at Casey. She's still in the same position as before, only this time her arms are crossed across her chest.
"I just don't understand." She responds dryly. "I really don't."
"Before you and Harry had met, I'd already known Casey." Ruby starts off. What?
"What do you mean you already knew Casey?" I ask in confusion. "We introduced you two."
"No, I'd already known her." Casey responds, still not looking at me. "We met at a party and-"
