Lenny's party seems to be going well.
She was nowhere in sight and I'd assumed she had fallen asleep soon after her friends had left, being tired and all.
Now, the only people in the yard were the adults. Some were dancing to the beat of the Spanish music that was being played loudly by the DJ's speakers and others were sat around having conversations or catching up. Some of Nina's drunk relatives were laughing and joking around while I stood with Casey in front of the bar hosted by Nina's cousin who was serving the drinks tonight.
"Crazy how the universe works huh." I hear a voice sound next to me. As soon as I snap my head over to my left, I see Ethan in view. Glaring at him, I turn away not really interested in having a conversation with him but soon he's speaking again. "Had absolutely no idea you and Nina would be here. Thought this was just a little gathering, didn't know it was Lenny's."
I clench my jaw and feel my muscle twitch before I'm looking over at him. "I'm sure it was pure coincidence, Ethan..." I say sarcastically.
"Complete." Ethan responds. "Didn't expect my girlfriend would be related to my coworker." He takes a pause before continuing. "Although, I do have to point out that Nina and Rosie are very different people, now that I think about it."
Although I know this information already, I look at him with a questioning look. "Firstly, I've learned that Rosie is a very outspoken person. Contrary from Nina who seems to be indecisive and quite reserved about everything. The girl never seems to know what she's doing or what she wants....typical coming from a woman."
Casey snaps her head at Ethan as he has captured her full attention. "But there's one thing I can assure you of..." Ethan trails off.
"She seems to know what she's doing in bed."
For someone to speak about Nina in such a sick and twisted way made my blood boil. She wasn't a fucking object to be spoken about like that.
Which is why as soon as those words left his mouth, I'm ready to lunge my fist at him.
But Casey grabs a hold of my arm to stop me. "Don't listen to him, H. Let the idiot talk." She whispers to me. "He's just trying to get a reaction out of you, don't let him."
But everything she's saying to me is gibberish at this point because I'm 10 seconds away from punching the fuck out of this son of a bitch.
I'm not an aggressive person. In fact, I've never punched anyone in my life.
But there's always a first for everything, right?
"Don't talk about her like that." I say sternly.
Ethan chuckles in response. "I can say whatever I want. You want to know why?" Ethan pauses for a moment.
