"Backpack"

"Check!

"Shoes."

"Check!

"Lunch."

"Not check."

"What?"

"Daddy, you never made me one." Lenny's small voice speaks up making my eyes widen.

"Yes I-" I stop.

Crap, I didn't make one.

I run to the kitchen opening up the fridge and slapping up a sandwich together. I throw in a cheese stick and a box of apple juice into Lenny's pink lunch box, zipping it up and handing it over to her

"Alright, lets go. We gotta go, we're going to be late!" I tell Lenny.

We both spent the entire day together yesterday. I took her for milkshakes, we stopped by the park and then our day ended with some dinner.

She'd practically begged Nina to let her sleepover over the phone right after but she had fallen asleep on the car ride to my house. It took some convincing for Nina to let her stay. She was a little unsure at first because Lenny had school the next day but I assured her I'd bring her bright and early.

It was 8:30.

Lenny was supposed to start school by 8:35.

I'm in trouble.

Practically, sprinting to the car with Lenny running behind me, I strap her to the booster seat before going into my side and pulling out of the driveway as quickly (and safely) as I could.

"Oh my god, Nina is going to kill me." I mumble under my breathe, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel. "Lenny, honey?"

"Yes?"

"Whatever you do, don't tell mommy we were late."

She lets out a cheery "Okay!" before I'm speeding off to get to her school. Quickly parking, I'm rushing over to Lenny and carrying her out of the car.

As soon as her feet land the ground, I'm tugging onto her hand, running towards the doors and right in front her classroom filled with colorful decorations outside the door.

I kneel down to meet Lenny's level before brushing her messy hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear to make it more presentable. "Okay, we've made it. Go in there and use that big brain of yours." I tell her softly, kissing the top of her head. "I love you, Lenny."

"Love you more!" She smiles giving me a hug before pulling away. I watch her run into her classroom with her giant backpack bouncing behind her.

"Harry..." I hear a voice say behind me. I turn around to meet little Kimmy's mother. "Oh my gosh, it seems like you get more and more handsome every-time I see you." She says walking closer to me.
