Ivy's Pov
"Emily-Rose! You're having a baby?"
I smiled maliciously, somehow, I managed to escape the attention.
Em turned to my mother. Mom's eyes were soft, and her wide smile was in awe as she embraced my friend.
"Yeah, I recently found out", Emily glanced in the direction of Rory.
The thought never crossed my mind. I didn't even know Emily was with anyone. Guilt eased its way back under my skin. Damnit, I've been so good lately. Em's petite body didn't even show a slight bump, her confession was unnoticeable. My mind couldn't help but wonder what her life was like. If my imagination was even remotely accurate, I would guess she lived in a studio apartment. It would be always clean and have accents of pink and gold décor. I knew Emmy was dancing full time and performing but surely, she had gotten a basic degree from a local college, maybe through online courses? Also, I pictured her with either a skinny artsy guy or a beefy hulk. There was no, in between with her. But with a baby on the way, I only hoped that she's financially stable and ready to bring life into this world.
In the corner of my eye, I spotted Mason saunter over to Rory and sling his arm around her shoulder. She gazed up at him catching one of his contagious smiles. Those two were in their own world. Ew, these cringey couples make me want to barf. I can basically feel their sexual pheromones emanating off of them. Almost every single one of my idiotic brothers had an amused expression as they watched a reality tv spin-off happen before their eyes.
"Now Mrs.Albert-Reed, I haven't told my mother yet, so, please don't mention anything to her. I'll talk to her once she's back from her business trip." The wild mass of red curls that belonged to my mother nodded.
"Talking about telling their mothers, Ivy Paige! What is it about an engagement?"
Fuck I was so close to being out of the clear. I didn't know what came over me but by the time Eli's dad was yelling and harassing him, It just slipped out. Word vomit was one of my biggest flaws, a habit whenever I was nervous.
"Yeah, I can't believe someone wants to spend the rest of their lives with you", teased my youngest brother. He was always a bugger, on my nerves. You would think that seven years apart would affect our relationship? Nope, not at all. We had an avid prank war when I used to live at home. My other brothers would put Isaac as their frontline man. That was before when he was adorable and you couldn't really get mad at him, but I am positive that their wicked influence on him created him into the reincarnation of the devil, he is today.
In record time I flipped my arm over and locked Isaac's head under my armpit, in a classic headlock. "You twerp".
"About the engagement thing, yeah it's kind of true." I paused. Not only did I not want to have this conversation, I physically don't even know what really happened. "The question was popped." I summed up.
"And?" I groaned towards the several excited voices.
An exhausted sigh escaped my lips. Did I really want to go into depth about my disastrous love life? Okay so I'm dramatic, I get it! Dating Cam hasn't been awful, he's actually been really nice to me. A big change then to what I'm usually used to, regarding men. For some reason, the bad boys have always had my heart. Cameron was different, and that is what I'm afraid of.
"I've been dating this guy Cam, he's nice. Definitely a people pleaser, you would like him, mom. We met at the gym, he's a researcher working at UCLA. An intelligent man, too smart I don't know how he ended up with me." I laughed at my own confession.
Ben shook his head in disapproval, I happened to catch a sly smirk from him.
"Oh my god, Ivy! Congratulations", awkwardly I stepped back at Eli's approval.
