Chapter 29: Faith

Nika's POV

How can a kiss make everything so awkward? We all sat in the car as awkward silence filled the air, not sure if it was because of the pda Ashley and I did or maybe because we almost got killed. I sat near the window again and Ashley sat beside me creating this tension I don't know where it came from.

"Does anybody have music?" Chelsea spoke up. We all looked at her weirdly, Chelsea looked back with the same expression.

"What? It's so awkward around here, loosen up bitches." She retorts.

She grabbed her phone and started to play some party music, she started to move recklessly causing us to move back and forth because of her movement.

"Chelsea I swear to God, if you don't stop that stupid music I'm going to throw that phone out of the car." Ashley looked at Chelsea intimidatingly. Chelsea huffed and eventually stop the music causing another really awkward silence.

I pulled out my phone and scrolled down my spotify, I put my volume up and played Put Your Head On My Shoulder by Paul Anka. I noticed everyone relax on their seat except for Chelsea who wasn't feeling the music.

"This is sooo old!" She whined while crossing her arms below her chest.

"It's still a bop though, party music isn't the best choice to play in this kind of situation. Everybody needs to relax every once in a while." I say in soft voice.

I leaned my head on the window and closed my eyes, you never get this kind of peace in times like this but when you do all you have to do is sit back and feel every peace there is before there isn't any left. I enjoyed every bits of it until Chelsea spoke up again breaking the peaceful vibe.

"Do you wanna play games?" She asks out loud, I sighed deeply and opened my eyes. I looked over to her to see that she was annoying Asher and begging him to play truth or dare.

"Does your sister ever shut up?" I whisper. Ashley huff and looked at her sister.

"No. She always tries to come up with random shit in random situations." She says. I let out a small giggle.

"Can I ask you a question?" She asks.

"You already did." I say. She rolled he eyes and bumped her shoulder with mine.

"You know what I mean Nika." She says. I licked my lip and nodded at her.

"Shoot." I reply. She looked at me in the eye as she sighed.

"Would you mind if I kissed you again?" She asks. Not gonna lie, her question took me back. I wasn't expecting it.

"Honestly?....yes." I hesitantly say. She nodded defeatedly and looked down at her lap.

"Why?" She asks softly. I softly pinch her chin to lift her head up, I smiled at her softly.

"Let's talk about this when we get back. Now is not the right time." I explain. She nodded, I retrieved my hand and looked back out the window.

// Time Skip //

"How was it?" Leo asks as we walked inside to the lounge. I dropped my gun and my bag on the couch and plopped down beside it.

"Tiring." I mumble. My eyes automatically closed as I plopped down feeling the relaxation the couch was giving me, the sky was already dark by the time we got here. I'm exhausted.
