Chapter 37: Together Again

"It's not your time yet." A faint voice coming from somewhere in the dark. There was nothing, I'm standing in the middle surrounded by nothingness. It was scary yet I felt peace, contentment settled in me.

"You have to wake up." The voice returned but instead of a faint one, it was muffled this time. I want to walk towards the voice but I'm unable to for I have no body, I'm floating in darkness. Am I in my mind?

"Nika! Wake up!" The muffled voice grew louder and louder.

A ringing sound erupted after the voice returned for the 3rd time, it gradually increased as a sudden light appeared in front of me and slowly grew bigger. I felt pain to my side as the ringing continues, I was no longer surrounded by darkness but surrounded by bright light blinding me.

Where am I? What is this?

The ringing kept it frequency consistent as my vision turned from nothing to blurred. I breathe slowly, feeling pain everytime I inhale. I felt something warm agaisnt my cheek and a blurred figure hovering on top of me. I lift my hand to reach up before touching something warm and soft but before I could react, I felt something wanting to come out of my throat.

I forced myself to lean to the side and coughed as hard as I could to let it out, the red colored substance I coughed out covered the ground I hovered over. I felt arms supporting my shoulders and my body. The ringing stopped and it was soon replaced by indistinct voices shouting, I avert my eyes somewhere and saw blinking headlights of a car.

"Nika!" The person holding me calls out my name. I tried to reply but I end up coughing up more blood, everything's red. Just red.

3rd Person's View

Reagan held Nika on the ground after she pulled her out of the crashed car, Nika looked like she was in a daze and coughed up blood not long after.

"Reagan we gotta go! Take Nika!" Rhett ushered me as the monsters hovered over the abandoned cars and looking at the crashed car they seemed amaze by the flames on the cars hood.

"Get her other friends, we're not going to leave without them!" Reagan says. Everyone obliged and crouched down towards the car, that was smashed against the truck.

Brylee opened the driver's seat revealing an awake but bloody Jake. Brylee assisted Jake to stand up and immediately sets him inside the building they hid the moment before. Rhett went to the passenger seat where Allen sat, he was awake also but seemed to be in trance. He assisted him also back to the building with Reagan carrying Nika's weak body.

Everyone watched as the backseat opened revealing an alive Asher and Ashley with a cuts on their foreheads which filled sides of their faces bloody. Asher was assisted by Patrish to the side, while Ashley saw Nika laying down in the arms of a stranger she never met before but she didn't care, her eyes were set on Nika.
