Chapter 31: Out In The Wild

3rd Person POV

They all sat silently in their seats while they stroll around somewhere trying to find a safe and nice place to crash in. It's been 2 hours since they have been driving with no definite destination making all of them frustrated in finding a place.

"This wouldn't have happened if you just closed the back door." Jake scoffed after his remark towards Leo.

"Well I'm sorry, I wouldn't have gone outside if someone didn't break the glass table that I have to clean and throw the shards so one would get hurt!" Leo snaps back.

Nika sighed trying to calm herself down from lashing out for wanting some silence and peace inside the car. She leaned her head back to the headrest as the two continued bickering and throwing insults to each other.

"If you didn't forget to lock the door then we wouldn't be in this car searching for a new place and most certainly Audric wouldn't have died." Jake says. Nika closed her eyes as Audric's names brought out in the conversation.

"Oh yeah? If you sacrificed yourself instead then he wouldn't have been dead!" Leo shouts back.

"Can you, just please, shut the fuck up?! I want to have a moment in peace, we all want a moment of peace okay?! Shut the fuck up or I swear to God,  I will sew your mouth shut with the threads of my shirt." Nika lashed out silencing the two.

The girl huffed and sank on her seat even more and placed her head on the side leaning against the window, thankful to finally have momentary peace. After driving aimlessly through roads with nothing but trees on the side they finally come across a subdivision. The houses looked simple, by the looks of it, it was completely a ghost town. They drove block by block scanning through every houses which may be nice to crash in.

"This one." Ashley points to a house that has a grey-ish color, the mailbox was bent and there was a lot of litters across the yard.

Jake pulled over in front of the house, everyone scanned the house with their eyes trying their best to guess if this house is safe for them to sleep in.

"I feel like this house will do." Chelsea says unbuckling her seatbelt and so does the others.

They silently got out of the car skimming through the front yard towards the door. Ashley opened the door slowly, letting Allen first then the others soon came after. After clearing out the living room and the dining room, they dropped al their things and sat down on the sofa, exhausted.

"I'm gonna check upstairs and see if there's something useful we can use." Leo says while heading up the stairs. Chelsea stood up following him soon after he did, the rest went to the kitchen while Nika and Ashley were alone in the living room sitting on the sofa.

Asher, Allen and Jake searched the cupboards and cabinets for anything to digest, the table had unwashed plates and house bills which was useless. Asher found some cereal but later found out there was no milk in the fridge, Jake then found some potato chips and luckily some not expired canned goods. Allen found supplies such as a wrench, hammer and some emergency kit. Allen walked to the sink open the faucet having the hopes of getting to wash and clean their body was evident in all of them but unfortunately no water came out of it. The three of them sighed in defeat and exhaustion.

Chelsea and Leo went searching inside a bedroom, which they guessed that it was a teenagers room because of all the band posters sticked on the wall. They skimmed through the cabinets and dresser searching for something but all they saw was DVDs, research papers and albums. They did find some clothes which can fit the girls but none for the guys. Chelsea sat in front of a computer hoping it will open and work which it did but a password was required.
