The Last Dance

Autumn-
3 years later...

"Mom can I invite Jaylene over tonight we were supposed to go out but we're still on lock down" she asked eagerly

"I don't know honey go ask your dad" I continued chopping the celery

"Ask your dad what" I stared as my husband Kareem and smiled I have came along way

"Daddy" Armani said

"Mom told me to ask you if Jaylene could come over" He looked at me and laughed

"Why you put this on me you know she gonna be mad at me for a week if I say no" I giggled cause he was right

"Daddy please" She fake pouted

"Girl fine tell her to bring some snacks because I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow morning" I told her

"Yes!" She ran back to her room

"Hey baby" Kareem wrapped his arms around my waist and smiled and turned around and kissed his lips

"I love you" I laid my head on his chest

I met Kareem at a church one night I was contemplating on taking my own life and I was walking around crying all night and I stopped in front of this church and walked through the door now I never was the type to go to church giving my past...

And something told me to just hold on and walk through those doors and when I walked through the door the pastor took one look at me and called me to the alter he prayed for me and my family then I sat back in the pew he preached everything I needed to hear literally... I had a box of razors in my purse when I got home lord knows what I was gonna do and to my luck I sat next to Kareem and one look at me he knew he was gonna marry me even through all my brokenness and hurt he still chose me...

"Thank you" I hugged him

"For what?" He asked

"For saving me" I looked him in his eyes as tears filled mine

He wiped the tears that kept falling down this time I was crying out of joy and happiness and not out of pain and anger

"I thank God every day for sending you to me" He caressed my cheek and passionately kissed me I kissed him back

"Ewww" Amari said came into that house

We shared a laugh he hugged me still sweating

"Wassup pops" He gave Kareem a hug there bond has always been good Armani on the other hand it took her a while to warm up to him considering the fact that's shes old enough to remember Lucas and Jabari and each of the altercations we've had

"Who brought you home from practice?" I asked him as I returned to cooking

"Uncle Roman brought me home and Jaylene said she's on her way" He put his phone in his back pocket

"Okay he didn't want to come in?" I asked

"No he said he had to go somewhere" he said as he took his jersey off
