An hour later;
Jeff's POV;Everyone in the penthouse apartment had heard Carmine and Dylan going at it. Dylan was vicious; she spat at Carmine with a venom that could scare a black mamba. It had seemed like the entire apartment had shook with the strength in which she had slammed the door on the floor above us.
I could do nothing but watch as she flew down the stairs and out of her home; once again slamming the door behind her. I had exchanged looks with Corey begging with him silently to get me out of here.
"She'll be on the roof; step out in to the hall and turn right, walk to the end of the hallway and go through the door then follow the stairs up to the roof!" He said stopping next to me and handing me a bottle of JD; looking around the room to see that everyone was lost in their own conversations. "Go; while no one is watching!"
"Thanks man!" I said moving towards the door.
"You're welcome!" He replied ensuring that I slipped away undetected.
Following his directions; and a few moments later I was stepping out on to the roof top and the breeze sweeping my hair back as I looked around until my eyes fell on her sat on a lounger with her head in her hands.
"Go away!" She mumbled without looking up.
"All right; but the bottle of Jack comes with me!"
"Jeff! I'm sorry I didn't realize that it was you," She said looking up and I could see that she was crying but the minute those darker than night eyes met mine; they seemed to come to life.
"Yeah? I think that you just want the bottle of Jack," I smiled.
"Don't say that please!" She pleaded turning to look out at the sea of lights of the big apple.
"Hey," I said moving to her and placing the bottle in to her hands before sliding in behind her on the lounger. "I don't want you buying in to that shit that he said to you!"
"No?" She asked me as I slowly and gently gathered her hair from one side of her head and let my chin rest on her shoulder. "'Cos he's not the first man to tell me that I am emotionally challenged!"
"You're not emotionally challenged!"
"Amn't I? I mean you told Beth that you loved her right?" She asked turning to face me; crossing her legs she took a gulp from the JD then handed it to me.
"Yeah I did,"
"See; I am emotionally challenged. I've never said those three words to anyone...my...every relationship that I have ever had; I have gotten away with ditto or me too,"
"You've never actually said I love you?"
"Nope!" She admitted lighting a cigarette and offering me one.
"But I've heard you say it to Corey and Roy..."
"I can say it to my friends; but to the man sharing my bed apparently not!"
"Any theories as to why?" I asked watching her closely as she knocked back a healthy amount of JD.
"None of my own!"
"What does that mean?" I asked watching as she continued to gulp at the bottle in her hands.
"Roy told me that he figures...his theory is that he thinks there is only one guy that I would ever allow myself to say those words too,"
"Anyone I know?" I smiled softly.
"Now that you come to mention it!" She giggled finally replacing the bottle from her lips with her cigarette.
