The following morning;
Cameron; North Carolina;
The Legend's POV;

I hadn't been surprised when Jeff told me that he and Beth had split up. Beth had never understood or supported the eccentric side of my youngest son. Jeffrey was a unique soul; hard to tame, he was what my wife would have called a 'wild child'.

I loved both my boys and would do whatever I had to, to make sure that they were both happy. And I hadn't seen Jeffrey this happy ever. When he talked about Dylan he lit up; his emotion evident in the things that he said about her, the love shone in his eyes when she called.

Beth, although seemingly a nice girl, just didn't get my son. She had never in all the years they had been together, had him smiling the way that Dylan had him smiling in just a couple of weeks.

Dylan had always been the sweet little girl who had followed her brother and my boys around. I had many a time cringed at the things that she was willing to put her body through. In many ways she was a female version of Jeffrey. It now seemed inevitable that they were going to get together.

Moving around the kitchen; I poured myself some coffee and had just sat down to read the morning paper when my youngest son came bounding down the stairs.

"Mornin' Dad!" He smiled happily.

"Good mornin' son. You slept well I take it!?" I asked watching him as he poured his own coffee and proceeded to make a bowl of cereal.

"It's the best night's sleep that I've ever had!" He admitted honestly. "I just feel like a weight's been lifted you know!?"

"I can see that. I've never seen you this happy..."

"I'm so happy Dad. I never thought that it was possible to feel like this; I mean I have been just muddling through for the longest time and now it...it just feels like someone is cutting me a break,"

Nodding my head happy that my youngest son was finally in a good place and I figured that I had Dylan to thank for that the next time I saw her.

It still amazed me that the little awkward girl that I had known; that we had all known, all those years ago was the same beautiful self assured woman that men all over the world lusted after.

"Dad!? You here?" The sound of Matt invading the house filtered in to the kitchen where we were.

"Dad he doesn't know!" Jeffrey said in a hushed tone.

"My lips are sealed son," I replied. "In the kitchen Matthew!" I called back just as my eldest son crashed in to the kitchen.

"Mornin'" He greeted me before he turned to Jeff. "Jeff...can I talk to you?"

"About?" Jeff asked through a mouthful of cereal.

"Beth!"

"No!" Jeff replied placing his spoon back in to the bowl and resting back in his chair sizing up his big brother.

"I don't understand you man; that girl is broken; she's a fucking mess!"

"You don't need to understand me cous but you do need to understand that Beth is not my concern anymore!"

"How can you say that Jeff...you were together for ten years..."

"Ten years of fucking misery Matt..."

"That wasn't what you said when..."

"Because I thought that I could make it work!"

I knew my boys and there was no point in trying to get in the middle of their arguement; they were far too stubborn and headstrong to listen to reason. So I just stayed where I was listening to them exchanging words.
