Tracey sits with me in class, her body facing mine and mine facing hers. She smiles at me and I grin down at her.

"Danny said that there is a street fight happened this weekend" she says to me

My grin falls into a frown "danny" I repeat "nah, I ain't gunna fight for him"

She goes wide eyes "drop that shit between you and danny, Ace. This is just business. Only business. Don't let Sammy come into this." She tells me "I'm talking big money, ace. I mean thousands"

"Just for a fight?"

She shrugs "people like a good fight. Different bids add up, the money keeps flowing as more people cheer for you."

I think about it, running a hand through my hair "Sammy is going to kill me" I sigh

"Sammy doesn't have to know" she says "just don't tell her. He knows you like fighting anyways."

I nod "alright. Tell him I'm gunna be there"

She smiles "good, I will"

Sammy leans against her locker, waiting for me.

Johnny stops me on the way over to her "hey, Tracey told me you'll be there this weekend"

"Yeah" I say shortly

"Thats good, that's good" he nods "don't you want to know who your fighting?"

I give him a look "does it matter?"

"Well what if he's bigger than you?"

I shrug "mind over matter, johnny boy"

He rolls his eyes "whatever that means"

I pat his shoulder and then shove my hands in my pockets, making my way over to Sammy.

I take in her loose, white shirt that falls off her shoulder, her skinny jeans and teal converse shoes. Her hair is down and her bangs are pulled behind her ear.

I place a hand on the locker behind her and lean towards her.

She doesn't have to see to know that it is me, she doesn't have to see to know I'm near.

She leans her back against the locker and puts her hand behind my neck.

"Hey"

She smiles and replies "hi"

"I can't come on Saturday" I tell her

"Why?"

"I have some things to do"

Her hand drops from my neck, to her side. "I know what that means"

I sigh and turn my head to the side, not looking at her. "And?"

"You know I don't like you doing that, ace"

"I know" I chuckle "you not liking it isn't going to make me stop, Sammy" I inform her

"If I can't make you stop then what will?"

I shrug at that "I'm not sure. Probably someone beating me"

"And when will that be?"

"Never"

"That's what I thought"

She leans her head back against the lockers. "Why are you being like that?"

"Like what?"

"Rude!" She says a little too harshly but then says in a softer tone "your being rude about it"
