Faye's mouth was so dry, not even the water sitting right in front of her would've been able to quench her throat. "Why do I have this?" She uttered looking up from the colorful menu with little options decorated with characters and games.
"I thought you'd like it." Lain nervously replied hoping to keep her composure.
"But-but this is a child menu."
"And..."
"S-shouldn't I have that one?" She pointed to the menu in front of Mallix.
"You could if you'd like, but then you wouldn't have all the games that the kids ones come with." The man said.
"But I don't w-want the g-games." Faye looked down as her cheeks grew a light shade of pink. But despite the fact that her eyes were staring into her lap, the couple could see the girl eagerly eyeing the menu and pack of crayons attached to it.
"Really?" Lain exaggerated her gasp. "Well then if your not going to color in this picture of a flower then...I guess I'll do it. You can use my menu." She dragged on reaching over to take the girls menu when suddenly Faye's hand shot up slamming down on the menu to keep it in place.
In her panic Faye quickly pulled both her hand and the menu closer to herself as Lain and Mallix shared a smirk with one another.
"What's wrong?" Lain played along seeming upset that Faye stole her menu back. "I thought you didn't want the games."
"I-I d-dont." She stuttered hesitantly letting the sheet go as her eyebrows furrowed while she watched Lain reach back over to switch their menus.
"Alright. You can go ahead and look for what you want now, I already know what I'm getting so that means I can start on this flower." Lain chuckled tearing open the color pack easily.
Meanwhile, Mallix watched the entire scene unfold as his wife snuck a playful glare at him as her hand holding a red crayon slowly came down to meet the page.
To her side, he nearly broke into laughter by how intensely Faye was staring at Lain almost as if she were hoping that her gaze was going to be enough to stop the woman in her tracks.
"See anything you like Faye?" Mallix asked hoping to take Faye's attention away from Lain as she began to color in the picture on the menu.
But she didn't respond or move. She was stuck staring at Lain as the blank picture soon began filling in with color.
"Faye?" He tried again.
"Hello?"
By this point Mallix was laughing knowing that Faye wasn't paying him any attention.
"What do you think about this so far babe?" Lain teased as she held up the half colored picture for her husband to see.
"Looks great. Don't you think Faye? You've been watching her color that for quite some time now." He smirking raising an eyebrow.
"What." Faye sat back. "No I wasn't."
"Oh my bad." He held his hands up. "Anyways how's that menu for you, not too boring is it?"
"Um..." the girl hesitated as she ran the pages through her fingers staring at the countless numbers of boring words written in front of her.
But her pride wasn't going to cave in so easily.
As she nodded her head, the couple were rudely interrupted as the same young man who took their drink requests came waltzing back in ready to take their orders again.
"Are you ready to order yet?" He kindly asked getting his little notepad out.
"I am." Mallix said first as he ran through his lists of favorites shocking the boy by the large amount of food he had placed for himself.
