On her phone out in the open hallway of the Academy, Lain pulled the device far away from her ear as soon as she heard her husband's urgent voice ring out.
Even with her phone held all the way by her waist, the woman could still hear the man rambling on too loudly for anybody to be able to understand.
Finally as his shouting stopped and she could hear him breathing heavily through the phone, the woman slowly brought it back to her ear. "Do I have to prepare myself for your screaming again?" She asked looking down at the streets below with her hand on her waist.
"Sorry." Her husband said. "I'm just in shock is all."
"What's so important that you had to yell at me through the phone about? You know I'm working."
"I know it's just...you need to come home babe. Like right now."
"I can't I'm at the Academy."
"The Academy can look after itself for a day. But I need you here now."
Under any other circumstance the woman would've denied her husband of his request, but seeing how shaken up his voice got she knew it was time to go.
Going back into her office to close up, Lain saw that Teresa was still talking to John through the screen. But sadly she had to cut things short.
Going behind the young woman in her soft leather seat, Lain looked to the man on the other end of the line. "I'm sorry but we've got to go John, I'll talk to you again soon." She didn't even wait for the man to respond before ending the call.
And the happy face that was once spread out on her assistants face vanished. "Don't look so dull on me now. We've got somewhere we need to be." She tapped the girls chin up.
"Where're we going?" She followed out of the woman's office.
"Home."
"But the Academy?" The girl scurried to grab all of her belongings out of her desk in the open hallway right next to Lain's office doors.
"I know. I'm going to tell the bottom floor about us leaving. They'll be able to watch the place while we're gone-"
The woman was so sure of her plan before she got to the stairwell and all she could hear was a constant stream of yelling and arguing.
Holding her purse tightly against her side, the woman ran down the stairs quickly before standing above the sea of vampires all swarming the Academy on the balcony of the second floor.
"Woah! Why are there so many people here?!" Tera asked confused by the woman's side.
"I don't know." She responded before trying to tune into one conversation happening at a time, but the level and amount of voices in the room made it near to impossible to focus on just one.
"We won't be able to make it to the doors with all of those people blocking the exits." Tera pointed out.
Luckily Lain already had a plan for that. Prepping her voice as she grabbed the balcony railing firmly, the woman frustratedly called out to everybody below her. "Attention!" In one loud and vibrating voice that echoed through the entire building, she surely caught everybody's attention as the Academy fell silent.
"What is the meaning behind all of this?!" She demanded to know. "Rodwood is here for you all to seek security and comfort at—not some chaotic circus."
"We want a room here!" People shouted back up at her. But as soon as one request came through, it was followed by tens of thousand more.
Everyone there was rushing to get a room in the Academy. And while they had enough to cover at least half of the people here, there were certainly not enough rooms for everyone.
