Spending most of the afternoon sat together in the living room neither Mallix, Lain, nor Faye decided to speak.

While the small girl in Lain's grasp was wide awake at this point, she refused to move. The soft blanket keeping all the cold air off her body made her feel cozy. Besides, the woman's scent was comforting.

But after finally having come out of the guest bedroom that he was staying in, Aaron walked out onto the bottom floor seeing them all casually sitting on the couch. Confused by their calm mannerisms he walked over swiftly.

"How's everything over here?" He asked with his hands on his hip not seeming to care about the fact that Lain was cradling Faye in her lap.

"Good." Mallix replied as he refused to take his eyes off of Faye.

While at first it felt awkward having both his and Lain's full attention, it did wonders for Faye. After all that's happened within the last week, it was nice to feel like she was being protected. It made her feel safe in a way. She felt as if there was no way anything bad could happen to her with them around.

"Shouldn't you guys be studying or something?" Aaron asked unaware of the elephant in the room that the others were blatantly ignoring.

"No. Not today." Lain said.

Surprised by the woman's response Aaron was quick to throw the back of his hand upon her forehead. "Are you feeling alright Lain? I think you may be coming up with something. Or the blood from that Growler you bit must be having some kind of effect on you."

He tried to warn but the woman just shoved him off.

"Aaron please, I'm fine. There's nothing wrong with me." She insisted.

"Are you sure? It's just that James told me about the change in the Bloodlet's finals date. I'm shocked that you don't have her nose stuck to a book right now considering how soon it is."

Immediately Faye began to whimper at Aaron's suggestion.

Having to read a book would've meant that she would have to first get out of the nice hold the woman had over her, as well as, losing her sense of security.

Midway into her argument with Aaron, Lain began to bounce her leg yet again. While she had sat stationary for a while now, she remembered how easily Faye settled when a little bit of motion was given to her.

"We don't want to overwork her right now. What James said last night was a lot. We all need some time to process everything." Mallix added to his wife's argument.

"Fine then, but don't take too long. Last thing I'd want to see is for Faye to fail her exam."

"Don't even say that Aaron." Lain scolded him when she felt Faye tense up in her lap. "She is going to pass it. She just needs some time right now." The woman came to Faye's defense.

"You've only got two weeks though. Less than that actually. I still think you should at least consider making some kind of effort for her to keep leaning."

Aaron gulped straight after. He could see his comment wasn't residing well with either of the couple.

"You don't think we're putting effort into this? Aaron say something like that again and you can find yourself out of this house and back on your way to the Academy." Mallix said lowly. "Faye isn't your Bloodlet to look after. We know that this is a stressful time for her. The last thing either of us want is for her to overwork herself and end up frying her brain before the exam." He need to breathe from how fast he was speaking.

"Faye already knows so much, the only aspect we haven't covered in depth about are our rules. And considering how straight forwards they all are, we're not going to overwhelm her by forcing them down her throat right now." Lain finished. "She can handle sacrifice one day towards some well needed rest."
