"I accept."

As Faye made her decision Lain's whole body sparked to life. The smile on her face went from one ear to the next and her tight muscles finally relaxed.

Meanwhile, the girl in front of her still had her doubt. She knew both options weren't going to bode well for her, but this was the less extreme. At least she could be in the comfort of a warm home instead of the dark room she was locked in.

"I'm glad to hear you do!" Lain said too excitedly before she cleared her throat and spoke again in a calmer tone. "I'm happy to hear that you've accepted my offer. From now on you'll be either at my home, or here in the Academy if I have work."

Gulping as she allowed the woman to grab onto her small hands and pull her close to her side, Faye awkwardly followed behind the tall woman leading her into the elevator at the end of the hall.

Back on the surface level of the Academy, Faye pulled her hand away swiftly as she whined and covered her face as the bright sun shone down onto her face.

Being trapped away with nothing but a singular lightbulb made the sun seem like a giant ray of fire. Her eyes weren't used to such light anymore.

But as she kept her hands over her eyes, she felt the same warm hands grab ahold of her shoulders again as she was now being guided blindly through the quiet Academy.

With all of the vampires on lockdown, it made their short walk out of the Academy all the more terrifying. She couldn't tell how far she had walked or where she was being directed, but the constant shifting and changing of directions caused her to nearly loose her balance.

If it weren't for the support of the woman holding onto her shoulders, she would've fell hard.

Finally as she let the harsh lights creep into the darkness that her palms provided, Faye blinked rapidly until she was finally able to get a look at her surroundings.

With many small business around with people and cars passing by, Faye wanted to just shut her eyes again. She didn't know where she was in town. She had never seen this area before.

But as they got closer to a small parking lot where only a handful of vehicles sat, the woman gently eased the girl into her car. "Where are we going?" Faye asked from the backseat.

"I'm taking you to my house. You're going to stay there for the rest of the day."

"W-will your husband be there?" She nervously asked. Despite not liking the company of the woman she was forced to now be around daily, she disliked the idea of being around a new stranger even more.

"Oh Mallix, no he's here at the Academy." Lain said as she started the engine before driving away.

"And we're leaving him?" The small girl asked completely lost with the woman's logic.

"No we're not leaving him. I'm just taking you to our home so you can get settled in. I'll give you a quick tour and show you around, but afterwards, I'm going to go back to the Academy. I still have some paperwork I need to finish up."

"What about me?"

"Rather than spending all day sitting and doing nothing in my office I thought you'd rather get comfortable at the house while we're away. Hopefully it'll make you feel more easy going when Mallix and I are both around later."

"So I'm going to be alone?" She gulped as she asked worried.

"Yes. For a few hours you will be."

Even though the idea of being alone terrified her, Faye was grateful to have a few peaceful hours to herself without the company of the woman or her husband. For all she knew this was going to be the last taste of freedom she was going to have for a while.
