shooting star
naruto's pov, third person pov

the poem reads,

"you are not mine,
but sometimes,
i pretend that
you wish you were

i create this idea
that you secretly
want me

and i often forget
it's just something
i've made up

you do not want me,
and you are not mine"

and the words really hit deep inside naruto.

sometimes, it's like sasuke will never love him.

sometimes, he feels hope.

sometimes.

naruto barely feels hope anymore.

sometimes, naruto wishes that sasuke had never left. that he'd been stronger, more able to fulfill his only duty.

"just bring him back to me, naruto!"

if naruto wants to be hokage, how will he do so without rescuing a friend?

the world is a very hopeless place, he's found.

i guess everyone is bound to realize at some point.

it's really a pity that so many lives are destined to crash and burn.

most of which in a few minutes or less.

it's insane how something so minuscule, so unimportant, so unnecessarily stupid can mess with our minds.

such as sasuke.

he's only strong because of his clan, and because of the people within it.

intense training can take you places, but only if it's done right.

which is sort of funny, come to think of it.

naruto's only trained so hard because of sasuke.

it's like the rain cycle. naruto wants sasuke, sasuke wants itachi, and itachi just wanted freedom.

none of this would have happened if the world wasn't so fucked up and pointlessly difficult to endure.

as the shooting star flies across the deep, blue night sky, naruto makes a wish deeper than any before.

"just," he mutters, turning around to face his balcony door, "come home to me."
