It's been the same routine for some time now.

Get up,
go to work,
come home,
train,
patrol,
sleep,
repeat.

Laying on the floor mat of your backyard, rugged breaths and soft wheezes leave your lungs from yet another strenuous training session with Shuji.

As you compose yourself on the hard material you can hear the old man enter the house through the sliding door.

Though very little time has passed, each day feels like agony without seeing the hero.

On top of that, your mood hasn't been the greatest, having suffered discouragement by your mentor as to distance yourself mentally from the hero; An impossible request really.

He doesn't understand. If anything, he'd lock me up the minute he found out about these nightmares. Keda cares about me, he'd be doing it out of love. A flattering gesture. Hardly a good one.

I need to save Hawks from this Dabi person. Who ever he is.

The sliding door closes, indicating his return. You don't bother to look at him as he struts across the yard. He stands over you, casting a shadow as he hands you a cool towel and a warm cup of tea.

You sit up, taking them and wiping your skin free from the collection of water droplets as the soothing liquid hits the back of your throat.

Shuji sits down, green eye trained on you. "Heart rate is normal. Hydration could use some work. Quirk strength has improved by 1% in the past month. Healing stamina looks great. Both your physical strength and stamina has increased....along with your stress levels."

The evaluation, one you're used to hearing, had you internally rolling your eyes up until Shuji mentioned the last part. It takes quite the mental effort not to widen your eyes or choke.

Your heart rate spikes, enough for Shuji to notice.

Clearing your throat, the now empty porcelain cup is set down between you and the old man. A fruitless effort to create a barrier. "Yes. They have. It's nothing to worry about, I promise."

Your mentor nods, gazing at the sunset "Being a pro hero's sidekick can really put a strain on your mental health."

He's pressing you. You don't like it. He's better off not knowing the root of your stress so he should leave the topic be. It's your life, not his.

Plastering on a smile you turn your head towards the side of his face. "Keda, I'm fine. Really. I can handle it."

Shuji bitterly accepts the soothing tone in your words and gets to his feet, "Naive girl. Your capabilities are not what worry me." He helps you to your feet, switching topics "It's that time again. Patrol won't be starting without us."

You smirk at the back of his head as he trots towards the house, "Old man, you worry too much."

"I worry just enough my dear." He corrects.

You hate the accuracy of his words. Nonetheless, your spirits are hardly diminished.

One day. I'll figure this all out and save you, I promise.

Your thoughts never leave the hero. How could they? Either you're out on missions with the guy or flying yourself to his aid when he gets hurt.

In addition, the nightmares visit you with each dream you have. Not once a decent dream. You wish they would be. Anything other than...
