T/W: Light mention of alcoholism, mentions of death, implications of depression.
_________
Hawks told you to head on home and get cleaned up for dinner. He said he'd text you when he shows up around 6. You're thankful for this because honestly? You reek of body odor and blood. Not to mention what's left of your hero suit.
On top of that you want to at least impress the guy. After all, if he's still willing to take you out to dinner after sending you home he must be interested in you somehow. A part of you doubts that it's a date kind of thing.
The helpless romantic that you are though hopes for some intimacy in his actions tonight. Nothing too forward! Something tame. You can't quite pinpoint what you want from the hero. Unsure of what to expect— setting yourself up for disappointment isn't a good idea either.
You conclude that letting things be and seeing how tonight turns out is the proper approach to the situation.
Turning on the TV inside your room, you hop in the shower to wash off.
The News coverage starts with current events while you preen yourself with the utmost care.
["As many of our viewers are aware, an apartment building caught on fire earlier today, close to the city's mall. Witnesses have identified the cause of the fire as a villain, who -in order to evade the heroes hot on his trail-, used his quirk to cause a massive explosion, which resulted in uncontrollable, wild flames!
Thankfully, heroes and firefighters were able to put out the fire and evacuate most of the civilians safely. There are still 4 people missing, 15 victims have been rushed to the hospital with bad burns -in critical condition-, and 5 have been confirmed dead. But not to worry dear viewers, police and heroes have managed to catch and arrest the villain. Yet another victory for Japan!"]
A fire happened today? I should look up what hospitals are close to the attack and visit the victims. They must be in so much pain.
["Thank you Mahito, we are all deeply touched and sympathize for the people caught in the crossfire. Moving on with our broadcast— we were informed that a number of important political faces of our society -as well as the Ambassador of Hero's Public Safety Commission- were rescued, from what seemed to be a planned out scheme, by Japan's favorite winged hero Hawks and his mysterious sidekick!"]
Ah fuck, they know about me. Damnit! To tell the truth, you saw this coming. It was only a matter of time till you caught media attention.
All of your focus hones in on the TV while you scrub soap into your wings.
["Mysterious sidekick? Do we know anything about them?"]
You better not. The last thing I need is paparazzi swarming me when I'm trying to live my life or do my job.
["I'm glad you asked Hideo, we're Live with the winged hero himself— Hawks, tell us about this new sidekick of yours. What are they like?"]
It all clicks in your head, That's why said he'd pick me up at 6. He must have gotten a message on our flight back about an interview!
You internally scold yourself for thinking he had intentionally turned it into a date. Idiot!
Hawks, you better keep your clam shut about me or I swear to All Might I'm ripping those soft feathers right out of your wings.
["They don't want me saying much about them but they're a really good sidekick."]
All tension in your shoulders melt underneath the scalding water. Heat rushes to your cheeks. He even changed my pronouns to keep my identity anonymous... should I thank him later? Would he be okay with me knowing about the interview?
