[Flirt Mode Unlocked]

...Oops... uhhh, no turning back now?

________

Breathing in slowly, your mind's haze is gracefully lifted as you turn over to look up at the skylight. No clouds in sight.

Light pours into your room.

You smile, soaking in the serene morning. You slept all throughout the night. It was absolutely wonderful.

Your sheets feel warm, soft and cozy as you move about them and stretch out your wings. Groaning as the muscles on your back spread with an all too familiar soothing sensation. You melt back into your mattress, enjoying the smell of your natural scent in the pillow cupping your face.

Reaching your hand over to your phone, you pick it up to lazily look at the screen.

Your once serene mood is shattered like glass underneath your skin. A knot forming in your stomach with your eyes wide open.

You read the notification three times over just to be sure.

You fling yourself out of bed, run into your bathroom, and groom yourself. Right as you're about to exit the confined space, your heel skids across the wood floor, hand hooked on the doorframe as you turn back for deodorant.

Flinging your bedroom door open. Bare feet thump against wooden stairs.

You hitch around the corner and pull your uniform out of the washer. The fabric is moist and cold in your hands. Cursing under your breath, you march back up to your bedroom.

By 8:10 you're out of the door and flapping your wings with feverish force. The wind is brutal against your cold clothes, had you not spent so much time picking out romance songs last night maybe you would have remembered to put your hero uniform in the dryer like a responsible adult.

Damnit!

Regardless, it's too late now.

Checking your pocket to make sure you remembered the mp3 player, the café you routinely visit comes into view. Almost as if you could already smell breakfast you feel an aching pain in your stomach.

With a soft grimace on your face, you give into your body's demands, slowing down to land on the sidewalk.

______

The hero taps his boot impatiently on the carpet. You've never been late— from day one you were always at work on time, no matter how tired you were or how beaten you looked. You were always on schedule and that was something Hawks admired you for.

And he would much like to ask the reason for your absence by his side when he was in the elevator this morning. Or the non existent paper bag on his desk (and without the notes he grew to look forward to). Hawks would like to know what kept you up so late as to have you tardy on a job you promised to try your best at.

But there is no time being petty, and he certainly isn't one to give lectures (though the man can run his tongue like a race horse). The speed of his tapping foot picks up the pace, the audible thump every time is met with the fluffy surface of carpet only irritating him more.
