"Come on, come on! You two are going to be late!"

Ryan chuckled lightly as he entered the foyer and stood next to Jisoo's parents. "I can assure you that Jisoo and I are never late for anything, Mr. and Mrs. Kim. We actually get an award for it every year."

The parents smiled happily and Mr. Kim suddenly turned on the camera, aiming it up the stairs. Everyone cheered quietly as Jisoo was walking down the stairs.

"It's not like this is prom! Stop cheering like that!" she complained with blush on her face that wasn't from the makeup.

"If only you'd dress like this everyday," Ryan said and admire her dress thoroughly.

"That's enough staring, son," Mr. Kim said seriously and covered Ryan's eyes with his hand.

"Dad..." Jisoo said and took his hand away. She was looking up at Ryan and they smiled at each other. Then a flash went off. "Okay, that's just too much! This is a semi formal, not a prom! I'm not even wearing a gown."

"You'd better take care of our daughter, Ryan," Mrs. Kim said sternly. "Have her home right after the prom or you're getting an earful."

"It's not prom! Let's go, Jihun!" Jisoo exclaimed and dragged him out of her house as fast as she could.

"Don't you dare kiss her, Ryan!"

"Oh my god, hurry and leave! Start the car and just drive—my parents are crazy!"

Ryan laughed as they drove off. He could see that Jisoo was happy though. Yes, tonight was a semi formal but every student treated it as a prom with less standards. There was still going to be a slow dance but not many people took it seriously. Most students came to mess around and twerk on the dance floor without being penalized.

At the venue, Ryan park his car—his dad's car—and helped Jisoo out like a gentleman. They kept a short distance as they made their way towards the entrance and many eyes were on them—on her. But the stares weren't as flattering as they seem.

"So the rumours are true, he came with her..."

Ryan looked directly at the girl who had the comment and smiled, "It wasn't a rumour. It was a fact."

He walked inside holding Jisoo's hand and the girl looked at her friends in shock. "Ryan noticed me... Wow..."

Ryan's popularity had downsides but there were many good things like the fact that people swoon over you if you talk to them. The social hierarchy could be a power tool if you use it to your advantage. With Bambam's preparation, Ryan was already getting used to it now.

"Hey, Ryan! Thanks for these shoes by the way, they're fireee," Taehyung said and strutted in the Louis Vuitton loafers from the Halloween party.

"Yeah, eh. I owe you one for letting me keep this belt. Just choose your poison and if I don't have it on me, I'll get it from the back," Jungkook added then reached into his pocket, "I got some brownies too."

"No... No brownies, Jungkook." Ryan moved Jungkook's hand away from his jacket and patted his shoulder, "And don't worry about repaying me for the shoes and belt, call it a gift... for standing up for me that night. Thank you."

It was no problem for Ryan to give away his things, especially since he had the money for it but he also just thought it was the only way to thank Taehyung and Jungkook. Shawn would've definitely knocked his lights out if the two of them didn't intervene.

"Enjoy the semi, though. Let us know if you wanna chill after the event, got it?" Taehyung said with a playful nudge on the shoulder.

"Got it," Ryan replied and the two left. He was smiling at people he could now call friends... It was a nice feeling for him.
