Ryan found Jennie and Shawn arguing and bickering, but Jennie was the only one with tears brimming her eyes.

"Kai drove me here! What's wrong with that? You and I aren't even together so can't you just let me live my life? Go fuck your math teacher for god's sake!"

"Kai? Kim Jongin? First Chanyeol and now Kai—So what, you can lay off any of my friends?!"

"I can't keep having these jealous conversation with you! I broke up with you like you've basically dreamed of and now you want me back? Why don't you grow up, asshole?!"

"If I'm an asshole then you're a slut!"

"Hey!" Ryan yelled and finally intervened. He was walking up to them now and Shawn scoffed.

"Get out of here, loser. This doesn't have anything to do with you," Shawn said in a calmer tone than he used with Jennie. He crossed his arms and stood tall to look intimidating but it didn't make much of a difference. "It's not like you're actually dating Jennie. Everyone knows it's a lie now that you came with someone else."

Jennie held Ryan's arm, "Just stay out of it, Jihun. I don't want you to get hurt again."

Ryan watched as she rubbed her tears away then stared at Shawn again. "It shouldn't matter who she dates or not. She's not dating you and you need to respect that. Leave her alone."

Shawn laughed in their faces now, "You should listen to her, or I'll be happy to use your face as a punching bag again. In fact, I've been taking boxing lessons."

He began to unbutton his cuffs and roll up his sleeves. Jennie sniffled from the crying and Ryan clenched his jaw.

"You know... Jennie is my girlfriend," Ryan said without hesitation. "She might've came here with Kai but I'm the only one she's leaving with tonight, so why don't you blow off your steam somewhere else. It's a semi formal and I didn't get to dance with her yet. You should find your own date."

"Ha. So, you're a tough guy now, huh? It's funny because I brought a ring for an exactly moment like this," Shawn said and played with the ring on his finger.

"We're you... going to propose or something?" Ryan asked in confusion.

"No, idiot but you'd be down on one knee after this," he replied and swung his fist into Ryan's face.

"Shawn, are you fucking kidding me?!" Jennie shouted and Shawn only smirked at his work.

"Ah... ouch..." Ryan was covering his eye with his hand and when he took a look, his vision was blurry and his fingers were bloody.

"Have you gone insane?! What the hell is your problem?!"

Ryan was always getting harassed by everyone but he was tired of getting beat up by the same person. He always stood up for other people yet he never stood up for himself and this was the time to change that. He walked past Jennie and Shawn had a smirk on his face.

"Back for another punch?" Shawn taunted. "You should really get that eye of yours checked. I might've hit you too hard, pal. Jisoo might like me better if she sees your face now."

Ryan was huffing from the anger pumping through his veins. All those years of being laughed at, being pushed around, and being ripped into shreds by the nasty comments came rushing in. The adrenaline from his wound was nothing compared to the anger burning up his entire body. He was ready to explode.

Shawn was face to face with Ryan now. Ryan was glaring while Shawn only grinned.

"If you're going home with Jennie, I might as well make sure Jisoo has a ride. I'll keep her safe for you though. I'll keep her real safe."
