"Five more minutes until next class, everyone. If needed, you'll only have ten minutes after the bell but that's it," the teacher announced. Students were scribbling their answers as fast as they could on their test papers. The only student that was seemingly calm was none other than Jisoo.
She sat with her elbows on the table as she flipped through the pages of the test, closely reviewing her answers. Jisoo was positive that her work was correct but she always had to be sure. In calculations, there was never a mistake that would go unseen by her.
"Jisoo, are you being extra careful again?" the teacher whispered and laughed quietly.
"One wrong number could change the outcome completely. I must be careful, Ms. Le."
"Alright, but don't stay too long after the bell or your biology teacher will give me a call."
Jisoo nodded and Ms. Le headed back to her desk. After the bell rang, Jisoo placed her work on the teacher's desk and joined the rest of her class in packing her things and leaving the room. She entered her next and last class of the day, and sat down at her seat by the whiteboard.
"Jisoo, did you finish the homework?" Ryan whispered from behind her, and startled her. "Sorry, did I surprise you?"
"It's fine. And yeah, I finished it. Didn't you?"
"No, I couldn't. Rosé made me rehearse lines with her on the bleachers at the back of the school until sunset. I feel asleep while doing the first question..."
"Ryan, go back to your seat please," the biology teacher ordered. Dr. Kim was infamous at the school for his strict and angry attitude. He always favoured certain students but some days, nothing could bring happiness to him and he would give extra homework for no reason. Ryan thought he had a chance of being on Dr. Kim's good side but his mood was just too unpredictable.
"Yes, sir," Ryan replied and immediately made his way to his seat. The moment he sat down, a student entered the class. The late bell had rung a minute ago therefore anyone coming in after the bell was considered late.
"Why are you late, Lisa?" Dr. Kim asked with his arms crossed and a cold expression on his face.
Lisa looked at the time on her phone, "it's only been a minute. By the way, your new haircut looks nice, sir."
"I'm not accepting compliments as excuses today."
Students nearby could practically see steam coming out of Lisa's ears as she forced herself to bite her tongue to not talk back. Her charms usually worked on teachers but never with Dr. Kim.
"Sorry," she managed to say through clenched teeth. Lisa approached her seat but the teacher stopped her.
"Stop. As a punishment, you'll be sitting somewhere else. Ryan, switch seats with her."
"Ugh, Ryan," Lisa mumbled and rolled her eyes as she dragged herself to Ryan's seat.
"What was that, Lisa? Do you have a problem with Ryan?" Dr. Kim asked with intrigue.
"No, no. He's just great."
"Alright then. Ryan, stay put. You, sitting beside Ryan, switch seats with Lisa. Hurry it up, I'm starting the lesson."
The girl sitting beside Ryan pouted as she got up to leave and Lisa sat next to Ryan with a look of disgust on her face. She cringed at the warm seat then glared at everyone at the table.
"There will be no homework check today since Lisa wasted so much time switching seats. Be prepared for a check tomorrow."
The class mumbled a reply then Dr. Kim opened his marker with a snap and began writing on the whiteboard. Ryan sighed and put his empty booklet aside. Lisa scoffed when she saw his blank sheets.
