The lunch period had just began and Jisoo was heading to her locker with Ryan by her side.
"Jihun-ah, make sure you're disinfecting your wound, okay?" she said.
"Yes, I am," he replied.
"And make sure to drink more water. It'll flush out the bacteria for sure!"
Ryan chuckled, "Okay. I know."
"Also, don't touch the wound! You'll ruin the healing process!"
"Jisoo-yah," he said and walked ahead of her, blocking her path. He held both her shoulders and tilted his head down to look at her. "I know of all that. I've been hurt before and I've healed very well, haven't I? You don't have to worry so much for me."
Their faces were so close to one another and Jisoo gulped nervously. To stop herself from staring at his lips, she cleared her throat and moved his arms away.
"I know," she said and walked past him to reach her locker. "I just wanted to remind you, that's all. You can be quite forgetful sometimes."
"Well, thank you for the reminders then." He stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He pulled her against his body and Jisoo's heart began to thump in a lovely surprise. She was afraid he'd feel it... "Thank you for always caring about me, Jisoo-yah. This is exactly why you're my best friend. I can always count on you the most."
"Yeah... I'm your best friend, Jihun. But w-why are you hugging me so tightly?" she asked.
"Do you not like it when I hug you?" he asked. Ryan specifically remembered Bambam telling him how much girls loved when guys randomly hugged them or kissed them. Of course, Ryan wouldn't kiss Jisoo without reason so he went for a hug.
He let go of her and she couldn't turn around to face him from how nervous she became. Instead, she spoke over her shoulder shyly, "It's not that... I just didn't expect it."
"Ah, okay," he replied with a smile. He knew she wasn't offended because they've hugged before. She did seem shyer than usual but he thought it was cute.
"Ryan! Let's grab lunch together!"
Looking to the side, Sana appeared. She waved at Ryan, then at Jisoo when she noticed her. Jisoo smiled politely and focused only on her locker to avoid excess attention.
"Unless you're busy," Sana said with a pout.
"Wasn't she chasing him around the halls not so long ago?" Jisoo asked herself, remembering the first few weeks of school and Ryan's "new" appearance. Sana seemed a lot calmer now.
"Oh, I was gonna have lunch with Jisoo. Sorry," Ryan replied, "Maybe next time."
Ryan reached over and ruffled Sana's hair lightly as a tease, making her blush at him. Jisoo caught sight of the interaction and refrained from staring at Ryan in shock. She's never seen him do something like that to anyone but her, but Bambam's never ending advice gave him the confidence to. To be honest, it made her a little jealous.
"It's okay, Jihun. You can go..." Jisoo mumbled, trying her hardest not to sound rude.
"No, I was-"
"Just go," she said, cutting him off. She stared back at him and Sana. "I'll eat lunch with Jennie or something. She hasn't been clingy lately so I want to check up on her anyway."
"Great. Put your backpack away and I'll meet you at the front of the school," Sana said happily and walked away.
Jisoo saw the grin on Ryan's face as Sana left and his eyes that looked a little too low down Sana's back. Jisoo didn't want to be jealous but she was. Ryan was her best friend. When Ryan looked back at her again, she immediately turned to her locker.
