The train rattled down the tracks as Viola, Neville, Seamus and Dean sat silently, looking out the windows at the rolling hills. A thick fog swarmed the peaks as dark shadows cast upon the the valley.
The train ride wasn't filled with the usual laugher and sweets but with Solemn faces and silence.
Viola tapped her nails against the table. She'd just gotten back from the prefects Carriage from her Head girl briefing. In her opinion, she shouldn't of been there. If she was being honest she didn't think her position would last, with Snape being in charge there wasn't any way she could see him keeping her on as Head Girl. Still, she knew she would try her hardest to try and help protect the students still attending Hogwarts.
The trains carriages were significantly emptier. Majority of students had chosen to stay home which was understandable and probably the safest option for them and their families.
Neville placed his hand over hers preventing her from tapping any longer.
Viola turned her head from the window to Neville as he gave her a sad smile and squeezed her hand.
She went back to looking out of the window when suddenly the train came to a stop.
"Wands out" She said taking her wand out of her pocket, peering down the length of the train.
The compartment door to all the seventh year Gryffindors was pulled open and in walked three death eaters. They scanned the rows of children, eyeing each of them.
"My father will hear about this!" Mclaggen shouted standing up as they past him.
Viola flicked her wand making Mclaggen fall back into his seat. She might of thought he was a prick but it didn't mean she'd want to witness him be murdered.
Mclaggen shot Viola a glare before turning away and sitting back in his seat as the Death eaters approached Viola and Neville.
"You're wasting your time" Viola spoke up monotonously her wand at her side looking coldly up to the three men that had stopped the train to search for Harry Potter.
"Hey, losers" Neville spoke as he stood up "he isn't here"
The three death eaters chucked to themselves as they reached into their robes.
"Flipendo!"
"Stupefy!"
"Petrificas Tolatis!"
Viola, Ginny and Dean shouted, pointing their wands at the death eaters and knocking them out before they had chance to reach for their wand.
"What now?" Neville asked looking down at the unconscious and immobilised bodies.
"We leave them at the side of the track" Viola stated as she started to levitate one up and out of the compartment window and back down next to railway line.
"What- leave them there?-" Neville asked
"Yes. They would of killed us. There's a war now Nev, and what else could we do? I'll send a patronous to my mother and inform her of what's gone on here. Hopefully she still had some trusted colleges at the Ministry in the Auror Department who can sort these pricks out" Viola sighed as the last one was placed outside of the train "I'm going to speak with the driver. Will you make sure everyone's okay? Especially the first years. They must be terrified"
Most of the Seventh year Gryffindors nodded as she turned away to find the driver as the others walked down the train making sure the younger years were well and safe.
If Viola knew anything about the war, it was that she would do everything in her power to protect the people she loved.
And that is just what she would do.

A/NI think this year is really the year that Viola grows up. She's stopped being that annoying kid who just bullied poor Harry for no reasons and has now changed into someone who'd go anything to protect the people around her and the school she grew up in.
And I think without Harry she's got her own room to kind of mature as a character idek
