Neville babbled to Viola as they trudged down the grass to Hagrids hut, their monster books in their hands.

"I'm going to loose a finger to these book" huffed Seamus as his book snapped at him.

"That's it now, come closer" Hagrid called beckoning them over "less talking if ya don't mind. I've got a real treat for ya today. A great lesson. Follow me" he called, leading the group of students down into a clearing in the forbidden forest.

"Right ya lot, less chattering. Form a group over there. Open your books to page 49"

Viola glanced at her book skeptically shrugging her shoulders at Dean who looked equally as confused.

"And how exactly do we do that?" Malfoy asked

"Just stroke the spine, of course!" Hagrid replied as if it was obvious "goodness me"

Suddenly, Neville tore open the pages of his book only for it to bite and claw at his hands causing him to trip over his feet and fall as the book thrashed wildly.

"Nev!" Viola shouted rushing over to help him up

"I'm ok, I'm ok" he replied sitting up and panting slightly.

"I think they're funny" Hermione said protectively defending Hagrid

"Oh yeah terribly funny. Really witty" Draco drawled from behind her "god this place has gone to the dogs. Wait until my father hears that Dumbledore's got this oaf teaching classes"

"Shut up Malfoy" Harry interrupted their laughed as he walked up to Draco.

"Oh shittttts bout to go down!" Viola hollered laughing causing her classmates to snicker

Malfoy swaggered forward to stand face to face with Harry.

"Fuck him up Malfoy!" Viola yelled causing Ron to elbow her in the side making her kick his shin in retaliation.

A look of panic washed over Dracos face as he brought up a hand and pointed to something behind Harry.

"Dementor! Dementor!" He yelled making Harry jerk around quickly only to find nothing there.
Harry turned back around scowling as Draco and the rest of the Slytherins put their robe hoods up and mocked the dementors. Viola smirked slightly as she watched.

Hagrid coughed directing the classes attention back to him "da-da-da!" He exclaimed gesturing over to the creature in front of them "isn't he beautiful? Say hello to Buckbeak" he introduced as he threw a chunk of meat for the bird as it caught it in its mouth.

"They couldn't of thought of a better name than 'Buckbeak?" Viola whispered to Seamus "it could of been something interesting like... I don't know...Jericho?"

Seamus only mumbled in agreement still watching the hippogriff before him.

"Hagrid, what exactly is that?" Ron asked a little scared but none the less amazed.

"That Ron, is a Hippogriff. First thing ya wanna know bout Hippogriffs are very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do"

"Well that's reassuring" mumbled Viola as Neville seemed to shake beneath his robes.

"Now! Who'd like to come and say hello?"

"He's joking right?" Viola asked Dean as she and the rest of the group backed away.

"Nope, I don't think so" Dean replied

"Well done Harry!" Hagrid exclaimed spotting Harry stood there, unknowing everyone had backed away other than him.

Viola found great amusement in watching the look of sudden realisation form on his face.

"Come on then. Now, you have to let him make the first move" Hagrid explained "it's only polite. Now, step up, give him a nice bow. Then you wait and see if he bows back. If he does, you can go touch him. If not... well we'll get to that later. Right, now, make your bow"

Harry looked at Hagrid skeptically before lowering his head slowly.

Suddenly Buckbeak started screeching and flapping his wings as a grin broke out on Viola and Dracos faces while they wondered how it was going to play out.

"Back off Harry! Back off!" Hagrid whispered urgently "keep still, keep still"

The group watched intently behind him as they sighed in relief as the hippogriff bowed its head.

"You can go pat him now" Hagrid urged "go on, don't be shy"

Harry took tentative steps towards the bird, slowly.

As he reached Buckbeak he lifted hand and stroked his head.

"Well done Harry! Well done!" Hagrid exclaimed as all the class applauded minus Viola and Draco.

"He might let ya ride him now"

"What-"

"Come on" Hagrid said grabbing onto Harry and throwing him onto Buckbeaks back "don't pull out any of his feathers, cos he won't thank ya for that" with a gentle hit from Hagrid Buckbeak started running across the paddock. His wings stretching out and took off soaring into the sky.

Minutes later Buckbeak landed back on the floor with Harry still on his back.

Viola sighed at the sight "awh he's back" she pouted.

"Oh please" Draco rolled his eyes standing up as the group clapped for Harry. "Yes! You're not dangerous at all are you, you great ugly brute" Malfoy drawled walking up to Buckbeak swiftly.

"No!" Hagrid warned as Buckbeak flew up on his hind legs towering about Malfoy causing people to scream. Suddenly, Buckbeak kicked his front legs hitting Malfoy on the arm, creating a small cut and pushing him in the floor backwards.

"Buckbeak!" Yelled Hagrid trying to calm the creature.

"It's killed me! It's killed me!" Draco exclaimed rolling in the floor dramatically clutching his arm.

"Rip to the only other member of the 'I hate Harry Potter Club'" Viola sighed watching Draco roll around on the floor.

"Calm down, it's just a scratch" Hagrid tried to reassure everyone.

"Hagrid! He has to be taken to the hospital" Hermione said stepping forward

"I'm the teacher, I'll do it" he replied picking the boy up and carrying him away "classed dismissed!"

"Why are all the teachers here insane?" Asked Viola exasperated as Dean only shrugged in amusement.
