Day of Homecoming Dance
Peter Parker
I quickly rush into the apartment, seeking out May.
I spot her in the kitchen, so I rush in, a frenzied look written across my face. "May, I need your help."
I told Liz I liked her. And she was my date to HoCo.
And I also had no idea how to dress up.
On another given day, I would have probably called Star for things like this, because she was amazing with fashion and she was the first person I would think of. But, right now, she was mad at me and probably wanted nothing to do with me.
That sucks.
Shooing my thoughts away, me and May ran into my room, and shuffled through my clothes, pulling out half-decent things.
I shrug on the clothes and try to douse myself in men's perfume, cringing at the smell. We fumble over making a Windsor knot, and smile when I get it right, turning to show May. She then gives me a quick dance lesson, and that was that.
I was ready.
Oh my god I'm not ready.

The car rolls up in front of Liz's house, and I feel my hands get clammy, nervousness rolling through me in waves.
"It's game day. So, what's the plan?"
I start to recite the steps.
"Open the door for her."
"Mm-hmm."
"Tell her she looks nice, but not too much because that's creepy."
"Don't be creepy."
"No. And, uh, when I dance with her, I'm putting my hands on her hips. I got this." I step out of the car, taking shaky breaths. Leaning in, I give May a quick 'Love ya' and 'bye', and shut the door. Taking deep breaths, I walk to the front of the house, pink corsage in hand, and I ring the doorbell.

Nova
"Nova, are you sur-"
"Shush and let me work my magic." Lila was currently sitting on the countertop of my bathroom, and I was doing her makeup before the dance. She had finally asked out Noelle, a girl in her science class, and was now furiously worrying over the odds that she'll look like trash in front of her date and crush.
"Nova, what if she ditches me-"
"LILA. I'm trying to do your eyeliner, and you need to be quiet. You asked her out, yes?"
"y-yeah.."
"She said ok, right?"
"Um- I-I guess?"
"If she actually ditches you, I'll punch her when I see her."
She laughs lightly, then frowns again, and I sigh, looking at her.
"What now?"
"I-I'm a little scared. What if- will people make fun of me?"
"What? Why?"
"Because I'm bi. And I'm going out with a girl.." she mutters, looking down at her hands in her lap, her legs lightly swinging like a kid.
I sigh, and tilt my head to look at her.
