Nova
Startled, I woke up drenched in sweat, my body humming with something lying in me. Ripping away the thin sheets, I panted as my heart raced, my mind boggled yet calm all at once.
Peace before the storm.
"The...the dream..." I reassured myself lightly.
"Just a dream...just a dream..."
But I knew it wasn't a dream that had plagued my mind. It was a memory of yesterday, twisted to look sharper than it was.
Dirt.
I smelled it.
I could taste the remnants of it on my tongue.
I could feel it in the insides of my nails, mixing with the blood and the wood.
My eyes were beginning to shut, yet my mind was awake, buzzing with need.
The wood that encased me was strong, yet something in me felt stronger, and my fingers twitched as it itched to get out.
It had been 4 days since my last injection of the Blocker, meaning that the shadow barrier was a wisp of what it used to be.
My body was frail, yet the thing that was ready to burst; it was bright and blinding under the dark of my closed lids.
On the ground above me, I heard slight whispers and footsteps as the doctors and guards waited for me to do something, to show something.
So many questions were left unanswered in my mind, but now wasn't the time for me to ponder over them.
All of a sudden, my eyes opened wide as I felt it.
I felt my powers push themselves through the barrier for the first time since I was kidnapped.
And all I felt was pain.
A scream ripped through my throat, raw and unyielding as I felt each element's spirit surge through my veins.
Immediately, the commotion above ground seized as the box I was placed in started to shiver and shake.
My eyes burned for unknown reasons as I saw my hands begin to glow; the powers were taking over me.
I wasn't in control anymore.
In an instant, the box burst open, splinters flying everywhere, and I shot up into the sky.
