Slipping my mask on, I inhaled deeply and exited the bathroom, closing the door behind me.

Facing Lila, I waved hesitantly and fiddled with my fingers, standing in my suit in her room.

Her face was in complete shock for the 100th time that night as her eyes scanned my body, taking in the details.

"You're- she's- what...." I took off the mask, proving my point.

"Holy shit...." Standing up from her chair, she stumbled lightly, and walked a little closer to me.

"Nova....you're...Primora?" I nodded my head, and she took my hand, examining the suit in pure interest and shock. "So you're not kidding." Shaking my head, I watched as she looked at the mask, and then the detailing on the suit.

"That's freaking awesome, and this suit....mindblowing. " Giggling, I rolled my eyes and pulled her to sit down outside our fort.

"So...I'm assuming you're ok with it." She looks at me like I'm psycho.

"Yeah, of course! I mean, I'm shocked, but how cool is that?! My best friend is a superhero, and she has powers. That's freaking awesome!!" I couldn't help the large grin that spreads across my face, and she reciprocates it.

"But, I do wanna know; what else can you do?" I shrug, thinking.

"As far as I know, I have a pretty good control over the elements, and then whatever this is." I show her my small energy ball, letting it roll through my fingers, and she watches it, mesmerized.

"I can show you the works, if you want, but not here. I don't wanna totally trash your room." She nods enthusiastically, and I smile. It was gonna be a looong night.

"Doctor. You didn't tell me it was her," I growled, and I saw the slight smirk on his face before he wiped it away.

That bastard.

"Well, you didn't ask, did you, Agent?" There was no way to win his games, I knew it. They were the only reason I was here.

"Did you know? Before sending me?"

"Of course I did. What kind of person would I be if I didn't inquire enough about the patient and her history?" He hummed, and I fought off the urge to rip his throat out.

"You had me watch her like a hawk, and now-" I tried collecting myself, before speaking again. "Sir, I can't do this, not to her. It's not-" He got up from his chair in the blink of an eye, and grabbed my collar, his eyes boring into mine.

"You were willing to do it before you found out, no? What's changed?" I gulp, avoiding the answer. Yet, he saw through me, and this time, he didn't hide his grin. Letting go of my shirt, he smoothed it out, tapping away the wrinkles.

"Listen, Agent. Strings, attachments, these are all weaknesses. They're unnecessary. Learn to let those go, and you'll find yourself a better man, a changed man. Trust me." Flopping back in his chair, he began to draw in his book again, and I swallowed roughly before turning around to leave. Just as my hand touched the doorknob, his voice echoed once again.
