Chapter 39

"So you do love Y/N huh?"

"M-Ms. Kim?!"

Yena was surprised to see Minju at the front door of the office kitchen. She looks at Seonghyeon who was giving the same expression as her.

"What are you doing here?"

"Answer me. Do you really love Y/N?" Yena was stunned. She doesn't know what to answer because she's afraid any answer she'll give will result in a bad situation.

"I-I..." She takes a deep breath before giving her answer.

"I do love him. But I can't love him. I'm sorry Ms. Kim."

"Then continue loving him." Her answer astounded them.

"W-What?" Minju approaches Yena and smiles at her.

"If you really love him, then don't stop. Show him that you love him. Prove it. He'll eventually accept you."

"But you're Mr. Goo's fiancee."

"Not anymore. I'm not his girl anymore. That means you have a chance of winning his heart."

"Ms. Kim..."

"Minju-ya, are you serious?" Minju nods.

"But, why? Why did you do it, Ms. Kim?"

"Yena ssi, there are some things that could make you give up in a relationship. First, frequent fights. Second, no more feelings between each other. Third, when they have their own personal problems but don't wanna talk about them to each other. And finally, when you love them so much that you could give up on them."

"What? What do you mean by that?"

"Ever since you entered back into his life, me and Y/N... we're actually drifting apart."

"But you both were so lovey-dovey to each other all the time."

"We both pretend to love each other."

"I don't understand Ms. Kim. You both were so in love."

"I do love him. And he loves me too. But deep in our hearts, we both know. I know him. I know that he still loves you. He makes it obvious that he still does. Every day, I tried to make him focus on me and only love me. But at the end of the day, there's always you in his eyes." Minju grips her fists to prevent herself from crying.

"And so I used Seonghyeon to drift me further away from him. He was supposed to be a help to distract me from thinking of Y/N. But... I end up falling for him. Every single time he showed me affection. I just couldn't help but fall for his subtle affection towards me." Minju walks towards Seonghyeon and intertwines her hand with his.

"And that made me fall out of love for Y/N. We had a promise to each other. If one of us cheated, just know that it's all by the mind and not the heart. But, I love Seonghyeon. A lot. Sincerely. I still love him but my feeling says that I love him as a trustworthy friend. I love Seonghyeon as a lover. A man that I truly love."

"Does that mean... you're letting Y/N go?" Minju nods with a tear escaping her left eye.

"I can't do anything. It's about the heart. The heart knows what it wants and what it needs. I can't force it. And I don't want him to have any regret while being with me. You can't force your heart to love someone else." Minju walks towards Yena and hugs her.

"You were his first love. Nothing can beat the love of first love." Hearing that made Yena let out a tear.

"Please take care of him for me. And please don't ever stop loving him. No matter what. Could you promise me that?" Yena slowly lifts her hands to accept the hug.
