18. family genes

a week later

taehyung woke up with a loud gasp. he just had a nightmare. a bad dream. again.

ever since his birthday, taehyung never had nightmares— everything was flowers and rainbows, as he always dreamed about his alpha and being into a relationship with him. but since he and minjae met, he gets more bad dreams.

sometimes, he can't hear his alpha, can't feel him, then there are dreams where his alpha gets hurt badly or where they made plans, that got cancelled though. this passed week, taehyung hadn't gotten one kiss or not even a hug in his dreams. all the fluff was suddenly, mysteriously gone and it scares him.

the omega took a deep breath and looked to his best friend, who was soundly sleeping next to him, curled up into the thick comforter. he and jimin were having a lot of different opinions lately— ever since minjae confessed to be taehyung's alpha, the two omegas started bickering over every little thing.

taehyung was sad because of it, he thought jimin would support him. but on the other hand he understood why jimin tells taehyung all the time that it can't be minjae.

because...

taehyung doesn't feel anything towards minaje. he was in love with his alpha— the alpha in his dreams. maybe minjae is 'his alpha', but he's not the one in his dreams. minjae had treated taehyung good up till now, but it has only been a week and they didn't even visit each other's homes.

a look at the clock showed him, that it was six in the morning and he had to wake up at seven for school.

he once again glanced to jimin, before getting up, his body was shaking a little, the nightmare had shaken him to the core. he went downstairs to the kitchen, turned a small lamp on, that threw a dim light into the dark room and grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and then sat down on one of the chairs.

he took a few sips of the water, feeling the cold liquid go through his throat, slowly waking him up again and calming him down.

with a deep, shallow sigh, he put the bottle to the side on the table and closed his eyes, trying to bring his heart to beat its usual speed.
'i wonder what minjae thinks about the dreams.' he thought for a moment.

did minjae also wake up because the dreams
were so horrible? or did he continue sleeping like it didn't happen. taehyung could imagine the latter, because minjae is strong, he's an alpha. he would understand if he would be still sleeping.

taehyung slowly tippled to the living room, where he got a warm blanket and wrapped himself into it, curling up in the soft fabric.

with a low groan, he got up again though, since he forgot to get the remote and had to get it. back to being cuddled up in the blankets, the omega put the tv on and watched any random show that can keep him busy, until the clock hits seven and jimin wakes up.

time flew by quickly, taehyung's thoughts were rather filled with funny scenes of the show 'modern family' than worries because of his dream and he was ready to really start off the day.

he went back up to his room and shook jimin awake, telling him to get ready for school.

"i'm gonna bring you to school today." namjoon said when they all sat on the breakfast table. seokjin had left earlier since he had to get ready for opening his small café. he didn't forget to make pancakes for the other wolves though.

"hyung, do you know what tae told me" jimin started and taehyung threw a glare in his direction, which the other ignored. taehyung let him tell it to namjoon though, since he was planing to do that anyways. he delayed it though the whole past week, since he was nervous.
