The following morning;
Heather's POV;
Who the hell had suggested that I drink last night?
My head was thumping in protest as my body tried to wake up; my body was ready to get up and face the seemingly bright sunny Saturday. The sun was streaming through the small gap in the curtains and the room seemed to smell of alcohol.
Barry; this was all his fault. My sister's best friend had suggested that he drive to the opening of her club last night, since he was working this afternoon, he hadn't wanted to get drunk, so with what had seemed to be a good idea, Brittany and I had allowed him to be the designated driver, while we got completely hammered.
Now though with the sun shining through the curtains and trying to burn my eyes out of their sockets, I had a feeling that it was going to be a long day, a long noisy day with no choice but to embrace it and allow it to try and take me out.
The smell of pancakes reached in to my safe haven, luring me to get out of my pit and face the world. We only ever had pancakes when Suzie stayed over; did that mean she was here?
Pushing the covers back from my body; to find that I was still fully dressed in what I had been wearing to the club last night; my hair was sticking up on one side, my make up smudged down my face and on to my pillow but it wasn't like anyone important would see me, so I stumbled out in to the hall. My head threatening to explode with every step that I took; but I urged myself forward, unwilling to let a stupid little hangover get the better of me.
"Morning babe," My older sister Suzie chimed from the kitchen as I stumbled passed, intent on grabbing my smokes from the coffee table in the living room.
"Urgh!" I groaned out as Barry appeared as if from no where and rubbed my head affectionately, but it earned him a slap and a glare that could have penetrated fort-Knox.
"Oooohhhh someone is hungover," He turned the decimal level in his voice up a few notches, wrapping his arm around my shoulder and leading me towards the kitchen.
"And that someone is likely to commit murder if you don't fucking tone it down dude," I grumped taking a seat at the breakfast bar and looked at my older sibling. "What you doing here?"
"I am gonna run out for your things, be back soon ok babe?" Barry asked stepping up behind her and placing a kiss to the back of her head.
"Thanks Bar, I just couldn't...!" She started but he stopped her by shaking his head to tell her that she needn't say no more.
"Ok is someone gonna explain to me what the fuck is going on?" I asked reaching across the counter for the ashtray and flicking my cigarette in to it as Suzie flipped the pancakes in the pan.
"I'll leave you to do the honours ok sweetie?"
"Gee thanks," She smiled at him as he grabbed his keys from the counter and headed out the door that led in to the garage, closing it behind him quietly.
I thanked God for the small mercy of him having the good manners to not slam the door and split my head in two from the sound. Hell; bunnies hopping around would have still been too much noise in this moment.
"Coffee?" Suz asked me.
"Sure that would be great," I mumbled my voice turning back to that of barely even a whisper. "Now tell me what the hell is going on?"
"I found Shaun in bed with another woman last night..." She said avoiding looking at me as she continued to busy herself with making breakfast, reaching for her cigarette that she had placed in the nook of the Jack Daniels ashtray, inhaling deeply she placed it back in there.
