Jeff's POV;

Seeing the way that Suzie reacted to the sight of her ex boyfriend with another woman, it was easy to see that she was no where near getting past him. Hell, they had been together a long time, so getting over him wasn't something that would come easy for her. If I had to wait then so be it, because after spending the night talking to her, laughing with her and eventually falling asleep together, to the way I had watched her today with my Family and friend, there was nothing that could deter me from my goal in making her mine.

Matt, Shannon and I had stood in the doorway to this room, watching the three sisters curled up together; fast asleep looking like any other Family but it was clear that they were closer than most sisters I had ever known.

Closing the door behind me, I moved quietly towards the bed and crawled on; resting next to her. I don't know if it was instinct or she felt the bed dip but she turned and snuggled in to me; her head resting down on my stomach, as her hand landed on my thigh.

"Thank you for coming," She mumbled softly without looking up at me. "It means more than I can say,"

"I told you sugar, anytime you need me..."

"Thank you,"

With that we turned silent for a little while; my arms wrapped around her holding her close to me, giving her everything that I was without question as the strong southern drawl of the singer that was playing through the speakers filled the room, leaving me feeling like we were almost cocooned in a bubble that we had created and no one or nothing would or could ever penetrate it.

"Why would he do that to me Jeff?" She asked lightly running her fingers up and down the entire length of my thigh; clearly she was doing it absentmindedly as her words didn't reflect the intention of her fingers.

But damn it if she didn't stop; she was going to have worked me up in to a state that I wouldn't be able to fight. Grabbing her hand quickly, mainly to stop her causing that intense pleasure that her touch was causing, but also to get my point across to her.

"I don't understand why he would parade such a..."

"Cheap whore in your face?" I asked lacing my fingers through hers while my arm that was around her; lightly traced up and down her flesh, trying to soothe her and make her feel calmer than she clearly was.

"Yeah? Did I really mean that little to him that he would just...!" Her voice trailed off in to nothing.

"For what it's worth sweetie; he is a fucking idiot! To have had someone as special as you in his life, in his bed and to let you go, to have betrayed you in such a careless manner...he doesn't deserve you,"

"You don't have to say that..."

"I know I don't! Suzie, I never say anything that I don't mean, and I never say something just to make someone feel better! I may know how to use my charm, but I can promise you that, that isn't what I am doing here!" I replied leaning down and kissing her head softly. "Just like this song; I am a different kind of knight!"

"Now see that was kinda cheesy!" She giggled softly.

"You're right it really was...I'm sorry! I take that back, but I am different, I am nothing like Shaun and I would never...I won't let him hurt you ok?" I said as I chuckled along with her.

"You know you are absolutely nothing like I pictured you to be," She said finally lifting her head and looking in to my eyes; her own brimming to the point of bursting with tears but with the grace that I had come to associate with her, she swallowed them back and smiled that heart stopping smile that I was becoming used too.
