"If you're hear to make friends and socialize, you can leave. This is an elite hero course, not a hangout for lazy asses."
It's safe to say they got the message, considering prompt silence and the nervous aura.
"Now, we're doing basic testing today. Get changed and meet me out on the training field in two minutes."
Everyone scrambled up, frantically trying not to be late. Minus Izuku, who waited 30 seconds before getting up, making his way to the changing room in a different hallway. He changed quickly, lots of practice, and walked onto the field shortly after.
Unlike his classmates, Izuku had requested long sleeves and a half -turtleneck type of gym uniform. He didn't like wearing anything that exposed his arms and legs, and found himself with a particularly inconvenient injury on his neck, hence the high cut uniform. Which he supposed could be seen as strange because of the warm weather, but didn't notice much because he always dressed like this. Even at McDonald's he wore a white long sleeved tee under his uniform.
"We'll start with the 50 meter run."
Some in the class weren't suited for this, their quirk not designed for speed.
Izuku had no quirk. So either he made everything suited to him, or he had nothing. He chose the former. He made himself strong. He made himself fast. He forced his body to be more agile than it should be. Because life was fair, and it was cruel. Fate dealt him a shitty hand, so he fixed it by himself. Izuku did everything by himself.
~Flashback~
"Izuku, I need you to stay in your room. I'm going to be fine, but I need you to stay in your room. Please, do this for Mom okay?'"But mom wait please I-"
Closing the door. The click of a lock. This went on for months. Hearing the pained screams of his mother, and all he could do was sit by the door and cry.
At one point, he'd had enough. So he tried picking the lock. And sure enough, he learned. He opened the door for the very first time. Silently creeping out of his room, using the skill he'd unknowingly picked up from years of abuse.
And the he did it. He stood between his father, protecting his mom.
He took the violence without a single tear.
But his mom cried when his father left for the bar. Oh how she'd sobbed.
"I'm so sorry Izuku. I'm so sorry." She'd said over and over.
But that's not what he wanted her to say.
~Flashback over~"Next we have the softball throw. Anything goes as long as you remain in the circle."
Some people suited this test more than others. Like Bakugo, who could use his quirk to send the ball flying. Or Hagakure who threw the ball as far as any normal person would. Different quirk do different things.
As for Izuku? Well.
"Hey Uraraka. That's your name right. You mentioned something about a favor."
"Uhhh yes?"
"Well I'm using my favor now. Throw the ball for me. Roughly 900 meters would be ideal."
"Okay?"
Several classmates shouted about how he'd cheated while Uraraka sent the ball out of orbit. A little further than 900 meters.
"I'd rather not explain. But I didn't cheat. Aizawa Sensei could repeat the rules."
"It's fine, and within the rules. A rather ingenious plan if you ask me." A weird grin stretching across his face.
And with that, Izuku moved to the back like always. And the class realized that was the most he'd said since he got here.
